Hi. This spring I did the Desmog and installed an AFC 152 electronic fuel shutoff valve. This year at several points I've run into fuel issues when at hi-way speeds with 1/3 or less fuel on the gauge. Also I've run out of gas twice with 2 or 3 bars showing on the dash, and had to go to reserve to get to a gas station (never had to do this before the installation). I think the filter part needs too much fuel weight on top to let it flow properly.

Looking at the AFC site  http://www.usgemini.com/parts/filter-lockoffs.html  It looks to me like the 152 is just a 151 shutoff with the 155 filter attached. Does anybody think that the two are separable? Has anyone tried this successfully? I'll eventually try it in the fall, but would feel better if I wasn't the pioneer here...

I haven't used the 152 but it does look like you could just remove the filter. I just recently installed the 121 because of the larger orifice size and it's been great. At these prices which are cheaper than the Dan Marc site why not have a 121 on hand when you do it for peace of mind that you won't have to tear everything apart again  cooldude

The AFC 152 not only has a fuel filter but it has a smaller orifice than the AFC 111 that seems to be the most popular and the 111 hasn't had reports of fuel starvation issues. The orifice in the AFC 152  is only 0.110" versus 0.156" in the Model AFC 111.  Thus the orifice area of the model 111 is 100% larger than the model 152. So I'm thinking that your fuel starvation could be a combination of the fuel filter and/or the orifice size. That said, removing the filter might be just enough to get you running at speed again - but maybe not. Many have had trouble with inline filters when using the model 111 - I'm one of them. I removed the filter and all is good.

  Fred

You might want to try a local marine store to get away from shipping and border fees eh Grin. These valves are used on pleasure boats for shutting off the propane to the stoves and heaters. I use one of these solenoid valves on my bike to control the air horns ( no filter)
