i messed with getting it back on today in between installing upper and lower ball joints on the wifes truck. there has to be an easier way...that thing is a real booger to get in there. is there a trick to it or do i need to find someone with freakishly long skinny fingers on small hands...it's kinda in position...but i can't get to the hoses to hook up to the bottom of the box. help?

I've got a pair of 12" long nose pliers I use for that. They are a pain to put back in. The last time I did mine, took about 5 minuets! cooldude

It's easy to install, do a search.

I don't know if I'd call it easy. But it is a LOT easier if you search out how others have done it. For me the key was using a ratchet strap to pull it in position and hold it while tightening the boots. cooldude

yeah, i'm going to use the ratchet strap on it to hold it in position. i was more concerned with some way to get my meat hooks under it to hook up the hoses. looks like i'll be buying a looong pair of needle nose pliers.  Undecided

I would be willing to bet you have tubes curled up on the back side, preventing them from seating properly.

Old Dog, is referring to the six carburetor connections.   They are usually the biggest problem.  Even the smallest fingers cannot get in there.   You have to check them visually from the opposite side before tightening the clamps.   Take your time, we all have problems with this task.

When I did mine I went and bought an exam mirror and used the old zip tie trick and it went pretty smooth. I have a set of picks with various tips that I ran around the inside of the rubber where it goes around the carb and everything slid right together.

I used a small, telescoping  "dentist" style mirror to check the back side of the boots. (where they attach to the carbs.) Getting the boots on all the way around was my main problem. Using the mirror helped a lot.
