For those who have not met him, Duane's son Mike will still be here and his wife is scheduled to fly in also to be here that weekend.

Son Mike is 'Iron Mike' on the board though he has not been very active in posting.  He does ride a Valkyrie and the family is from Michigan.

We will not be able to make it.  6 months ago I volunteered to take a group of fairly new riders on a 3 day trip to ride the 3 Sisters over near Kerrville.  I think Wizard would want me to lead this group.  Wizard will be riding along with us.  He really enjoyed the trips to the Sisters.  He also enjoyed leading rides at GOTF, The mid-winter gathering, and many others.

Mike, I will continue to pray for you and your family.  Duane was a good friend and helped every one that even hinted that they had a problem.

Wish me luck.

Just thinking out loud.

How about naming the Saturday morning ride at the GOTF the Wizard Memorial Ride, much as we have the Joe Boyd Memorial Ride at Inzane?  Duane led so many of these GOTF morning rides it just sounds right.

I nominate Jimmy "Hayhauler" Turner for that position!!  Cheesy  If you can do without him helping with the cooking that is.  The ride is good but the vittles are the best!!   Cool

It was a wonderful experience for me at 'Wizard's' memorial. Hot Glue and Flamingo Babe were Great Hosts. (they always are!) I realized how good it is to have friends like Duane in my life. I was dissappointed when he moved to Arizona, but did not seek him out when he came back to Texas and only saw him on special occasions. Now I wish that I had put forth more effort to spend time with him. He was a true archetype and a good friend. He was Very opinionated, but very patient with people who were not on the same page as him. He was generous with his time and effort. Like someone else said, "he would go out of his way to help anyone who even hinted at having a problem". It seems odd to say, but through the years I have used his character to help me develop mine. We were only a year apart in age, but I guess  his grisly appearance sort of made him look 'Fatherly'. I will truely miss him, but he will remain in my thoughts to the end. Rest In Peace, Wizard.

A very big THANK YOU to Mark and Charlene for hosting all yesterday.  Once again a very great time. Joe and Mike, the ride was a perfect remembrance of Wizard's favorite spot.

Daniel, thanks for the reading of your piece.  It touched my heart as well as I am sure everyone there.

This is such a great group, love and caring expressed by all, and felt by all.

Wizard was a giving man, and we will all miss him terribly.  Seeing his bike there was a reminder of our loss, but also of a great guy who was with us there, just sitting on the bike, and "drinking a dew"

Thanks to all who made the memorial such a fitting tribute to a great friend.
