The prior owner of the 1999 IS in my garage mounted some 'stuff' to the speaker panel inside the right side of the fairing.  Undecided

One thing is a battery gauge that is so low that it is not visible and hits the tank when the bars are turned full right. I do not like it there. I am guessing the gauge is there for a reason and I should have some way to monitor the charging. Is there any way to repair the holes in the fairing that will be there?

Since I just ride a lowly Standard that's being converted to a Tourer - I don't know what material the fairing is made of where you need to do the repair, but - if it's made of ABS plastic like the saddlebags, it IS fixable, and it's not terribly difficult or expensive to do.

Some background reading:

Reader's digest version - get the black ABS glue and some sacrifical material (Legos are supposed to work well for this), clean the area, paint the goop on - sand and paint if required - good as new.

An example close to home:

Very cool.  Thank you.  I have used MEK  to repair cracks before.  Never thought of making a slurry to fill holes.  cooldude

Now fabricating things is an interesting idea....... Hmmmmmmm.   Cool
