Hi folks,

I recently bought a low mile red and white '97 Valk Standard that the previous owner removed the tank badges from. I purchased a new pair from Partzilla and they will arrive Friday.

What I'm wondering is if anyone knows of somewhere I can get the measurements for correct placement on the tank? If I knew someone else with a 'Valk I could just use a tape measure and get them pretty close I think. This is my 3rd Valk and I've always liked the look with the badges better than without.

Maybe one of you nice folks would be willing to take the time to go out to your bike and take some measurements for me. All I really need is the approx. distance between the bottom of the badge and the pin stripe and between the ends of the badges and the pinstripe. I would be eternally greatful for you assistance.

Please, is there anyone out there who can help me?

Thx,
Big Oz

I can't help with measurements as mine has the maidenhead badges. But others have said because of the curvature they only fit in one spot. I would position them without mounting tape on them and then mark with tape or crayon.

Just lay them up on the tank and you will see how the tank curves and the badges will lay in place. then you can measure the height from the gas cap down to make sure the they are both the same height. Then mark them with a marker and peal the back and stick them on.

As others have mentioned, I would get one side "eye-balled", then measure to make the other side match.  There's a bit of wiggle room where they will fit properly and look right.

This is your chance to place them where they look the best to you..

Show some pictures when you get it done.

The front top leading corner of the badge is 1" back from the orange pinstripe, measured horizontally.

The bottom straight edge (not the center rounded part) of the badge is level with and 3" above the bottom orange pinstripe, measured vertically.

On my '97 the left badge is 3/4" from the stripe horizontally, but still 3" above bottom stripe. So, slight difference from one side to the other. Would have never noticed if I hadn't measured!  Roll Eyes

Thanks very much Dave!!! I'll mount them this weekend and be confident they're in the right spot!!!

Some of us prefer the badges, some don't.  A request via this site may have gotten you a free set.  Just sayin, Hoser  Smiley
