Folks I got a problem that is driving me nuts!  I noticed that the left lamp on my Cobra lightbar has light escaping around the seam where the housing ring which hold the sealed lamp attached to the main housing.  Only the left one, the right one if fine.  I bought a replacement housing and the same thing is occurring!  At this point I am thinking it has to be the lamp itsef...however both are Wagner 4449 lamps.

Stumped???  Anyone else ever experience this?

There was an O ring in there which prevented that. Maybe yours have been lost. I'd take the housing to a hydraulic supply house and see what you can find.

Jim, I'd take the right light apart and take the o-ring in that one to Nashville.  Surely there is a place there that specializes in gaskets and o-rings and get them to match it as closely as possible.  We have one in OKC that has come through for me more than once....JTL

If the problem is a missing O-ring then it is missing on both lights that were currently on the bike and it was missing from the replacement Cobra housing I bought.  The right light has no O-ring/gasket and the problem does not manifest itself.  Possibly if I add an O-ring it may solve the problem, but why it behaves this way still troubles me.

The problem turned out to be the sealed light bulb itself....it did not fit properly.  Both were Wagner 4449's but one did not fit in the rim properly....pretty strange...eh!!

If you are having a sealed beam problem with the Cobra, try replacing with a 50W sealed beam from

http://www.1000bulbs.com/Halogen-Xenon-Gas-Mix/

The Par 36 - 50 W draws the same as the 35W and gives off plenty of light for oncoming cages to see you.

Here is a great bulb, lots of candlepower.

GE H7616 they only use 36.5 watts and put out 70000 CP. Lights up the road very well.
