I have  01 standard parts bike and it has some awesome polished wheels and I want to put them on a 2k Interstate.I checked part #s and they don't match.I know I read somewhere that 98 thru 03 are the same except for the rear brakes, but I'll be using the brakes from the IS.Getting ready to change tires and now would be the time to change wheels too.anybody know for sure? TIA.

Don't know but the difference if any would be the rotors I would think.

You should be good to go. Look at the wheel hub on the left side of the wheel, just inside the brake rotor. Both wheels should have s '2J' somewhere around the circumference. If so, it is a direct swap brake rotor included.
You run into trouble when you are swapping a '2J' wheel for a '1J' or vice versa.
The early brake rotor has to be used with a '1J'.
The later brake rotor has to be used with a '2J' wheel.
All Interstates came with a '2J' wheel.
97-99 Standards and Tourers had a '1J'.
2000 and up Standards and Tourers came with a '2J' wheel.

Why not save a bunch of money and polish the wheels you have then have them clear powder coated? That is my winter project.

You run into trouble when you switch rotors.  If one bike has a rotor with countersunk mounting bolts then both need to or you cannot switch rotors and obviously visa versa with non countersunk.

All Valkyrie wheels will fit all Valkyries if they wear their correct rotor.
