He's WILLING to trade up to a Valkyrie Interstate. Well I bet he would be, kind of like trading a Pinto wagon for a Shelby Good luck with that trade. At least he see's the light.

VTX, Vulcan, Boulevard, cruiser His keywords are a bit strange. Why is he listing other metric bikes that he doesn't say he's willing to trade for?

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/mcy/1316755304.html He wants to go the other way. Problem is that he is trying to trade an Interstate that is not an Interstate.

I was in the same boat a week ago. I had an '02 HD Night Train that I traded for an '01 Interstate. And yes, you do have a convert - ME!
The comment about the motor being spent with only 29K miles on it is accurate (speaking strictly from my own personal experience). My HD had 27K miles on it and the rocker boxes started puking oil all over the engine. Needless to say, reliability, comfort, and longevity quickly became priorities over loudness and bad-ass-ness (if that's a word). Hence the trade.
Also, he probably listed other bikes that he doesn't want to trade for for sake of other people searching for bikes. By including those keywords, anybody looking for one of those other metrics would find his bike. It increases his visibility. Somebody may want a cruiser in general and "stumble" across his bike when they were really searching for a VTX.

Overuse of keywords is the bane of searchers everywhere. It wastes people's time, and generally pisses them off. If you can use keywords effectively, you can find what you're looking for, and nothing else. When people put extraneous keywords in their ads, it forces people who are interested in a VTX only to wade through hundreds of ads that have nothing to do with VTXs. If I was looking for another Valkyrie, I'd want nothing to do with an ad for a Vulcan. It annoys lots of people for very little gain, but in the seller's mind, the gain is worth it, because the annoyance doesn't hurt them. It's selfishness pure and simple.

Agreed and well said. I wasn't trying to justify it, just offer a possible explanation.

I didn't read your comment as a justification, and I wasn't directing any of that ire at you.

Haha! that's what I was wondering! Somebody may have told him it's an IS and he doesn't know any better. I guess the power, smoothness and reliability got old.

Just called and left a voicemail asking if the title lists it as an Interstate. Perhaps it had things removed, but from the pictures, it looks like a Tourer that had an Ebay trunk installed. We'll see if he calls back or alters his ad.

If he acts like that I say Flag him for Prohibited item. Not what's advertised.

Well anyone who knows their bikes, knows it ain't no Interstate. Also, when was the last time you seen a Orange & Black I/S?...unless it was repainted. I can't remember, did he say it was a '99? If I had room in my garage, I would like to have a '99 Orange & Black Tourer. OK now I'm confused. ??? Went back to the ad...he say's it is a 2000. I am seeing the colors Orange & Black. Is that what everyone else see's? I thought they were only made in '99. Maybe it isn't even his bike.

I dunno, but I know more then him apparently.

He's WILLING to trade up to a Valkyrie Interstate. Well I bet he would be, kind of like trading a Pinto wagon for a Shelby Good luck with that trade. At least he see's the light. It was easy to sell my 98 Heritage Softail Springer (FLXTRZFS) for more than twice what I spent for my Red and White Tourer... -Mike "sure glad I have the Tourer"

Had two HD's. The last was an '03 Classic that leaked from the day I brought it home. They said it was ok. They tried to explain that there is creapage, seapage, and leakage. That creapage was ok and within limits??? Oil leaking on my garage floor in any amount in any of my vehicles is NOT acceptable. Bye bye no performance, no horsepower and no handling. Hello Valkyrie!
