Kinda humorous....was putting stuff in the saddlebags(beautiful day for running errands on the bike) when I heard someone yell about a "Harley wannabe." I was standing there facing into the wind to let my hair blow back before putting my helmet on and the guy starting poking fun at me about that. I just smiled and waved, then got on the bike but could hear him over the exhaust still saying something so I shut it down. I then heard his wife turn to him and sweetly say "at least he has hair!"  So loudmouth says "yeah, but that long hair ain't riding a Harley." To which his wife responded "right, he's on a Valkyrie so has you beat twice over....he isn't bald and rides a Valkyrie."  At which point he said something to her that made her bust out laughing, he got in the car and SLAMMED the door. Wifey just smiled, waved, and said "have a nice ride."

Got a haircut today, rode the bike over. Wonder if he'd make fun of me now? Some people's kids!!!   Grin

I've been told that before, a couple guys pointed out I have no Honda badges to tell what kind of bike it is. Then pointed out my HD fairing, told me I was doing my best to make it look like a Harley. I just laugh at them, told one guy it's a Honda fairing, not a HD fairing....because it's now on a Honda. He wouldn't quit, his buddy just went in the store and started shopping and that's where I was headed. It's down on International Drive in SW Orlando, small bike accessory store...mostly HD stuff but always had good rapport with the owner. This particular time the one dude just wouldn't let it go, kept riding me about wanting to make it look like a Harley. So, finally I asked the owner if he had a small oil can....which he did. I went outside and dumped a few spots on the cement under my bike, about the size of a tea cup. Walked back inside and said "now go take a look, it really looks like a Harley now." I thought the owner was going to have a stroke, laughed so hard he started to choke and cough. I just rode away.

PS: The loudmouth got so PO'd he walked down the street to another shop....all the time his buddy was slapping me on the back, laughing as well. Some people's kids!   Grin

John you just made my day. When I ride to the Hardly D shop I hear the snickers and have made a few comments myself and my last is I will race anyone here title for title plus I'll add cash and have yet to have a taker. My IS is just alittle tweeked but looks stock and I to am tired of these tywanies, chinese, japanese and who knows what else parts bikes that want so badly to be called American.

I will now start carrying a can of oil so I can mark my spot.  Ride safe and see you on the road somtime.

Sorry you got a hassle at my store John. We have quite a few red neck contractors come in. Sounds like you handled it just fine as usual. See you Saturday!

Wasn't really a hassle, the guy made an ass of himself and his honey(wife, girlfriend, lover du jour??) made an ass of him. Was actuall amusing because it appeared to me he was trying to make a statement for his lady whatever....and blew it. Kudos to her, she knew what kind of bike it was.

As for Saturday, jury is still out....I'll know by the end of the week. If it were tomorrow....no!  Undecided
