Mike and I met up in Elberton, GA at 9am this morning for a ride over to Edgefield, SC to Cook's Farm......
Our first stop was at Richard Russell Dam on the GA/SC border just South of Calhoun Falls, SC....
Our next stop was at a little country church at a crossroads....
From there we decided to go down a road that said the bridge was out in two miles....just to see what we could see....we walked down into the construction zone since no one was working there today....
From there we made our way on down past Edgefield to Cook's Farms where we bought some of their homegrown produce...There were some nice folks running the produce stand and we told them that they were our excuse for riding down that way....
Mike loaded up on the peaches and some frozen peas of some sort....
and I got some tomatoes(ripe ones and some green ones for frying), cucumbers, and yellow squash...the danged squirrels and drought destroyed my little garden this year...

Then we backtracked into Edgefield for lunch at an old General Store or Pharmacy??..couldn't tell which....but it had some good sandwiches and a BEAUTIFUL waitress who was very "blessed"..I was going to have my pic made with her, but the place filled up and swamped them just after we got there....darn the luck!!...

After lunch, Mike took us back down the street to an old home of a former SC Governor that has been turned into a Civil War era museum...the nice little Lady who was running the place coaxed us inside for a guided tour...her and Mike were hitting it off and rattling off all kinds of SC Civil War history as we explored the place....she never even charged me for the tour, but I think Mike had made a donation...The second pic is Mike standing in front of an original Confederate Flag that had a small tag saying it had been carried all through the war...I think the Lady told us that someone had preserved it for them for ~$3,800....wow...History costs $$....

As we made our way back towards home....we stopped at this stone barn way out in the country...it's part of a school's campus that Mike will have to tell you about, but we toured the campus and pulled over and talked to another real friendly guy who was the Superintendent I think??...he gave us directions to a part of their 1,200 acre campus that had an untouched old growth forest on it....the guy who started the school back in the late 1700's was buried just to the right of the "Road Ends" pic..I think Mike took some pics of the little cemetary there...

It was about a 250 mile trip for me....not very long, but VERY relaxing and pleasant...we weren't in a rush to be anywhere in particular so we were able to explore some roads and sights that were new to us...Man, I am one very lucky guy to call Mike Marshall a true friend!!!....He is always willing to ride over to my house(60 miles apart) and help me keep the Green Dragon in top form....that is one of the awesome benefits of this "Club"...top notch folks in it from stem to stern....the only thing that could have made it any better was to have been able to share this ride with other VRCC members....God Bless the VRCC and Honda Valkyrie.....
