I don't know what I did, but changing to the loud glass-packs has really improved my mileage. Finally bought gas today as it is 2.88 at a local station, 2.6 gallons with 111 miles logged. 42.6 mpg  Cheesy

Gee Bill, wish I was pulling 42 mpg.
I think the best I ever got was 39.

I consistently get 41mpg, same set up.
When riding with other Valks, I'm not the one initiating gas stops.

I figure that little voice in the back of your head says that if you crank the throttle too much it will be loud and the cops will give you a ticket for noise.  Grin

Have not been babying it, that is why the mileage surprised me.

I get 38-40 almost all the time. I'm now running non-ethanol all the time too. I swear the bike runs and sounds better. I'm an early shifter and hardly ever crack the 3K barrier on the tach. Terry taught me several years ago about that.  Good on you Bill, that's great mileage.

I carry 8 gallons so I haven't paid much attention but I do crack the throttle a bit. I figure I'm getting about 30mph and don't really care!

Belly tank.

Best I ever got was 41 in San Fransisco on the Coastal Highway going North.

Worst was 16 coming back from Sturgis one year.

He was pretty much in the dollar area from Rapid City to the East state line.  My buddy on his V-Max was pissed off that I was trying to run away from him.

Reminded him who was leading on the way out.     Nothing more was said on the subject.

I used to get in the high 30's on the open road, usually around 37 on up depending on conditions. Then I added the fairing and radiator pods and the mileage went down. I now get mid to low 30's and don't worry about it. It runs good, the throttle gets twisted occasionally, I'm not going to mess with it.
