Nice surprise for us. As we were checking out and the tally kept going up and up, Rita noticed the sign below the card swipe keyboard. It offered a 10% discount today for all vets, didn't say if they had to be active or retired, just veterans. As the kid was ringing stuff up she gently tapped him on the arm and asked about it, at the same time pointing to the sign. "Oh sure, happy to do it."  So when the total came up, he hit a key and the total due dropped to just over $150. Nice little perk for wearing a uniform for a few years.

I did get a "special" thanks today. Had a dr. appt., a followup on the epidural last week and one of the nurses I had been kidding around with over the last few weeks paused while doing the paperwork. Said "hey, today's Veterans Day, are you a vet?" Yes dear! She said "well John Boy, thanks for your service" and gave me a big kiss on the cheek. The other gal at the desk doing the scheduling said in a real dry and wry manner...."kinda makes you want to reup, doesn't it?"   I told her if they ever recruited us old guys they would put us on the front line. We'd have to fight 'cuz we're too old to run. The whole place busted out laughing including those still in the waiting room.  Grin

lots of freebies today for Vets, happens every year now.
we went to the fair & fred got in free.  then went to our favorite BBQ & he got a free dinner.  I think it's wonderful that places are giving thanks to Vets.  I'm very proud that he did 21 yrs.

Thank You to all Vets for giving of yourself.   cooldude
