There will be an Antique Outboard event in Winter Haven this weekend. The event will be located on the South West corner of Lake Shipp. The park there is a perfect set up with a sidewalk through it and the boats and engines lined up on both sides of it.
Typically we get over 300 antique and vintage outboards at this event along with boats of the same era. The shoreline should be full of boats and engines being run as well.
This is a good event to see and a nice place to ride to with some good restaurants nearby.
The event will be held this Friday-Saturday and will begin to break up around 2pm or so on Saturday.
Most folks who run their boats are more than willing to take anyone interested for rides.
Lesa and I will be there with a boat and some sort of antique engine on Friday by noon or so and staying through Saturday. Find us and we will take you for a ride!

Wish I could do this one, the weather is to be in the 70's & low 80's. I've been to the one in Mt. Dora a couple times, love the old boats/engines....especially the old wooden classics. Beautiful!

Think we are going to go with this one this weekend. Circa 1949-1950
This is an Evinrude "Big Four"  A 60 cu. in. opposed 4-cylinder engine developing 50hp.
This photo was from the first time the engine was run in probably many decades. Only parts I changed on it were the condensors and the lower main bearing which was still good but a known issue in those engines. They are beasts but run very well and are huge in the torque dept.

Lower main bearing change.....

And running..........From the looks of the spark advance, probably around 2/3 throttle.

Looking forwarding to taking y'all out when you get there!
After not touching this particular engine for over two years I pulled the tank and lines, carb, and gearcase and cleaned where necessary. Put it back together this afternoon and it fired off on the first pull. Good sign at least!
We will be pulling out of here tomorrow around 9-10AM and get there around noon. Play all afternoon.

Well, although Lesa and I did not make the meet I hear that Grumpy and Murphy did and that they got to go out with Steve in one of his boat/engine combinations. Steve usually runs engines no newer than in the 1930's so will be curious to see what they were running.
Ended up in the emergency room with Lesa on Saturday. Was there most of the day.
That was the bad news....good news is that they finally figured out what has been going on so she is finally on the road to recovery!

Steve took us out with a 1920 Super Elto light twin.  Really a neat motor. Had Murphy it the front steering with the ropes and Steve manning the motor.  Made a couple circuits around the lake.  Nice event, lots of antique engines and boats. Had about 9 small hydro's running on the lake. We both had a great time, got the next one on my to do list.

Pappy Thanks for calling for us, greeted by several people when we got there.

I Am Happy For Lesa That The Dr Knew What To Treat Her For. Most Of The Time There Is Too Much Testing To Find The Problem. I Hope Lesa Gets To Feeling Better Soon.
