Raining all morning with flood warnings and just a bad day to be outside so far.......SO...

I decided to clean the Valkyrie, now....she was kinda clean already but its amazing the dirt you can find when time is not an issue and you climb under and all over her "on mission" to clean and shine!

To make a short story long........this is the extra (above and beyond) things I did today:

-un-nestled the cobra pipes to get chrome polish on all the pipes all the way around and clean the bolts
-used vinyl cleaner on everything that was black and made of rubber, plastic or vinyl (excluding foot pegs) but including spark plug wires, brake lines and coolant hoses and the buttons on the handle bar switch boxes.  Man that just sets the look of the cockpit off
-waxed the entire frame, even underneath swingarm and behind side covers
  -washed the tires (sidewalls only)
-used anti fog spray on both sides of the windshield
-cleaned kickstand and kickstand mount....(one area I seem to neglect)

WOW.........cant wait to ride now!

I saw what I thought was someone's newly acquired Honda Shadow at work a while back.  I asked him when he got it.  He said it wasn't new, he just hadn't ridden in several months.  I asked him why, with sympathy in my voice, having just recovered from knee surgery myself.  He responded that he had washed it and didn't want to get it dirty.

I shook my head, walked away, and haven't talked to him since.  It shows up once every two weeks or so.  I don't park next to it.  I figure if he only rides every two weeks, I can't trust him not to drop it over on mine.

Anyone that knows me knows Im one of them fanatics like Smokin Joe........just has to have the bike looking clean and shiny.......but now that I have 106,000 miles on it (of course) it shows 6,000 miles on it, I love to mess with people........they say "Nice bike, no wonder its so clean.....you never ride it"  I say "Ya, for a '97 it has a whole 6,000 miles" and sometimes I catch people and they say, "Ya, I have a HD in the garage like that..........maybe get 500 miles a year on it"

Then I tell them about the "Other" 100,000 miles that doesnt show on the odometer.............I love doing that

How many bikes can have 100,000 miles NOT show on the odometer or on the bike or in how she runs!

Just got back from bike nite................what a thing of beauty (oh ya the bike too) but what happened.  A guy who didnt know what a Valkyrie was......was checking out my bike.  I walked up and said "take a look at the odometer" and he replied..." WOW you have 6,000 miles already on this thing!!"  He thought it was new, (I think because you could smell all the cleaning products I had used ALL DAY on the dang burned thing).....anyhow I said no this thing is 12 years old and that is really 106,000 but this odometer doesnt keep the "1"  It blew his mind, then he really wanted to check it out, asked all the questions........still couldnt believe it wasnt new out of the box..........I was a proud "papa"

then it rained on me on the way home.........lol.....but I managed to get home before the roads got wet.....wheeeeew!
