Okay, so I have the Cobra 6 into 6 exhaust on the bike I recently bought. Do most run these pipes with or without the baffles ?
Mine came without the baffles and is a little loud at highway speed, and was just curious. I have had Harleys in the past, so I am not against loud pipes, but this in my 02 is a little much. Opinions appreciated.

When I had my Cobra pipes, I preferred the sound with baffles.

This link will get you started. You'll find plenty of folks running with and without baffles. They're shortened, lengthened, and wrapped to get more or less sound based upon preference. Baffles are still available from Cobra last I heard. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,69400.0.html

Did you buy that bike from a guy in Garden City, KS?

With baffles and wrapped with SS scouring pads. Unless we are doing a notice me ride, then the baffles come out and the ear plugs go in.

I bought my bike with the Cobras and no baffles,, it was just obnoxiously loud to me. I bought some cheap baffles from JP cycles just to try them out,, six inch I believe, with no cap,,, and I really liked the sound. I still use them with no wrapping or mods other than welding a nut in each of them to make installation and removal easier. The bike is still pretty loud, but not enough to be bothersome to me, I can ride all day without a helmet with no droning or ill effects.

The most expensive things you will purchase, are those things you would not have needed if you had listened and obeyed.

Thanks for all the info. I bought some cheap 8" baffles off of ebay and to get the sound level where I wanted it, i cut them down to about 3.5".

Someone had cut the piggies and drilled out the std mufflers on my Valk and there was a real drone, and a lot of high pitched noise. After several all day rides my ears were ringing like crazy. I now have permanent tinnitus which I can only attribute to this bike. I have since had a whole new aftermarket exhaust system put on and we tried different baffle options to get rid of the drone, but it is still there. I now have to wear noise-cancelling earphones every time I ride. Be very careful with modified exhausts - this egine puts out a LOT of high frequency noise.
