I find it kind of odd that it is only getting 36mpg with fuel injection...i thought (big mistake...i know) that the wings got much better than that.  Checking the Honda Site...it looks like they get pretty close to that too.  So...what is the advantages of the wing/valk over the old Valks again?  Evil

Fuel injection.

I never wanted an old Valkyrie myself.  As soon as they made a fuel injected one I was sold.  I've never been a fan of multiple carbs on bikes so that was a deal breaker.

I never wanted an old Valkyrie myself.  As soon as they made a fuel injected one I was sold.  I've never been a fan of multiple carbs on bikes so that was a deal breaker. 

I worried about that when I bought my beater Valkyrie at the end of 2006... it is
a great bike that regularly starts up from cold with one button push 70,000 miles
later. Not messing with the carbs and riding enough to keep them from gumming
up is my theory on what makes them trouble free...

And that's the case with most carbed bikes.  I just personally don't like them and don't want to own one.  Another personal reason was I really didn't like the way the 1500cc Valkyries looked.  I like the new one much more overall myself.

I've ridden the old ones.  While they're ok, I wasn't impressed enough to own one.  The new one isn't shockily great, with the addition of fuel injection, radical styling, and a larger displacement engine it was enough to get me on board. 

But I also bought the bike as purely a toy (and also to replace my Victory which I hated).  I don't use it for long trips or carrying passengers.  If that's your style then I wouldn't even consider buying the new Valkyrie.  Just buy a tourer.

One of the few you are uglystupid2 how could anyone not like the way the 1500 Valk looks? It doesn't get any better in the standard,tourer or Intestate. Roll Eyes

I wonder if the low MPG numbers are because they run the bike pretty hard in the test.  My new F6B has been consistently giving me mileage in the low 40s.  My old Valkyries rarely got out of the low 30s.  FI is great, with no potential for hydrolock as an added benefit.

In 7,000 miles I have only had one tank come in at under 47MPG.

I haven't actually measured mine but my fuel warning tends to come on around 120-140 miles.  But I don't use first gear and I tend to keep the bike I  the 2500-3000 range unless I'm in fifth just cruising.

I get the same mpg with my modified and tuned Gl1500 Valkyrie. I fixed the cheapout by honda and the epa waste fuel regs.  but not everybody wants to mod and tune like I did.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but if you keep adding a little more fuel after it reaches the top of the tank you can get almost a full gallon more fuel in the tank.  My fuel light comes on between 150 and 160 if I do this and stay out of the throttle which is damn near impossible.
