Apparently a viable option for the new Valkyrie.

Guhl Motors apparently has already done a new Valkyrie and it seems to work.  Top speed limiter removed, timing adjusted, etc.

While I'm more of a Power Commander kind of guy, this may be a better option.

Im pretty happy most of the time
I also agree with never enough horsepower  cooldude
So a little more HP cannot hurt but at what cost and for how much.
The b ike it smooth from 5 mph to what ever in any gear so I cannot imagine making that much smoother a few more ponies in top part of RPM would help but then I dont hit that too often as mostly in town riding these days .

The post I read, the guy had everything done with his reflash.  Timing advanced, top speed removed, etc.  He claimed a significant difference but he also had to run Premium gas after he advanced his timing.  I'm with you as far as a little more power never hurts, but I'm not willing to sacrifice Regular for Premium myself.  He didn't have any dyno numbers so who knows if/what it actually did.

In my opinion just changing your timing while leaving stock compression and cam lift/duration isn't going to yield a big enough increase that I'd want to lose Regular gas.

I'd be interested in doing a reflash after they have a little more experience with them.  I'd go for a "best on regular with no top speed limited" reflash but I don't think I'd be interested in anything that makes me have to put Premium in it.

i dont run anything but premium in any of my bikes. they dont burn enough gas to make any difference, and they like premium alot better anyway.

I get better mileage with 87 than 93 octane fuel. (I run ethanol-free if that matters.)

That's how it works.   Without higher compression adding octane does nothing but put gas in the engine it can't fully burn.

I love not having to use premium.

I wonder how low you can go and still have it run smooth?

Once, a long time ago, I saw a pump for 85 octane fuel. I don't remember where it was but it stuck in my mind!

Midwest and midnorth I saw those all the time when I was traveling.  Due to elevation.  Not enough air so higher octanes don't burn well.

I have a picture from one of my cross country trips of a gas pump with four different ethanol blends and one button for 85 octane...........

I have no way to guess at the timing.  I've never seen how the curve is or where it even starts or ends.

I see it in the Rockies when going back to the Dakotas.

Ha.  I briefly thought about explaining octane but I get yelled at enough here.  Just let him live the dream.

I run premium in my lawnmower it gets at least 500 more BPG (blades per gallon).  Yeah, yeah.  It's a joke (which I have to include in almost every post or someone blows up).

Grin   Grin     I run "off-road" diesel in my tractor for the same reason.   Cheesy

On a side note, does anyone know if a milder version of this map will stop the low end stumble of a Goldwing when cold??  Not a big issue... I just go very easy on the throttle for the first 5 minutes.  But it is a bit annoying when I'm not thinking about it and it stumbles, especially in a turn.

This seems to work. I think they are on back order.
