Yep, it's that time of year again!

The 16th Annual Blessing of the Bikes is right around the corner and I can't think of a better way to start the New Year…

Meet up in Bergheim at the Valero (46 and 3351) at 9:30 AM with kickstands up no later than 9:45 AM.  From there, we'll head over to the "Blessing" as a group.

As is tradition, we will find a nearby Hill Country eatery afterwords for some good eats and some VRCC fellowship!

See ya there!

Don't want to discourage anybody, but this Hazardous Weather Outlook just in from the National Weather Service concerning the Hill Country (South Central) area:

"There is a chance of freezing rain…Wednesday Night Thursday Morning.  This includes New Year's Eve and New Year's Day."

Oh boy!  ???

Gonna just have to wait and see…

Not ready to throw in the towel just yet, but

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement late this afternoon:

"RAIN CHANCES WILL INCREASE LATE NEW YEARS EVE NIGHT INTO NEW YEARS
DAY MORNING ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS. TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST
BELOW FREEZING DURING THIS TIME ALONG AND NORTH OF A COMSTOCK TO
HELOTES TO GEORGETOWN LINE…WHICH WILL RESULT IN FREEZING RAIN."

So…the weather may not cooperate this year… Sad

Well…I've got that towel in hand and ready to throw in…

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch at 4:12 AM this morning:

"...FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS THE HILL COUNTRY LATE NEW YEARS
EVE INTO NEW YEARS DAY...

.A SHALLOW...COLD...ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL SETTLE INTO SOUTH-CENTRAL
TEXAS LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT. WARM...MOIST AIR ABOVE THIS
AIRMASS...ALONG WITH AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE...WILL RESULT IN
FREEZING RAIN DEVELOPING ACROSS THE HILL COUNTRY LATE NEW YEARS
EVE INTO MIDDAY NEW YEARS DAY…"

So…not looking real good… Sad

Have never known the Apostles to cancel/reschedule this event in the 15 years I have been attending but am hoping they reconsider this year.  Due to the weather forecast, I will have to pass this year and just wait to get my Valk blessed when the Kennedy CMA chapter does theirs later in the year.   Cry

This just in from the National Weather Service… Sad

"BOERNE...BLANCO
807 AM CST WED DEC 31 2014

...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST THURSDAY...

* TIMING...TODAY THROUGH NOON THURSDAY (NEW YEARS DAY).

* MAIN IMPACT...FREEZING RAIN MAY ACCUMULATE ON MANY ELEVATED
SURFACES AND ROADWAYS...ESPECIALLY BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES
  ACROSS THE HILL COUNTRY.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL AVERAGE A TRACE TO ONE-TENTH OF AN
INCH. HOWEVER...THERE MAY BE A BAND OF SLIGHTLY HIGHER
ACCUMULATIONS TO ONE-QUARTER INCH ACROSS THE NORTHWESTERN HILL
  COUNTRY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW...SLEET...
FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. THIS
WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE TRAVEL PROBLEMS AND MAY POSE A THREAT TO
LIFE AND PROPERTY."

Wow…the last line -- "May Pose a Threat to Life and Property" -- kinda sums it up!  Shocked

Like haulzazz says, the Apostles won't cancel or reschedule which I believe -- given the weather circumstances -- is irresponsible on their part.

OK, so the towel has been thrown…this will be the first blessing for me to miss since I started going to the event…oh well…  Sad

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Be Safe!

See ya next year!

Many of the typical New Years day activities around the state got the towel today. Guess we all will just have to watch games on tv.
