This is almost the same as what I posted on the national forum.
For those unable to attend this is my opinion only:
I think it went fine and all of you missed a super, fine gathering. I am sure I missed someone, but I think we had 21 folks actually at dinner last evening. I know there were some cancellations, but even so we had a wonderful get together.
No undue mishaps. Some challenging riding. We had a family with both parents riding bikes and each packing a son along. Mother was a little leery of the last part of the ride when I described it (she was riding a Harley) so she let me pack her younger son with me. Kid rides like a champ. A natural born biker. After we finished the ride, she said she had no trouble but was glad I had prepared them for it. Another rider asked it he got a patch for completing it. Seems there was just a little pucker power involved.
It was a short stretch of road that the road surface had been ground off so was very rough and groovy. Steep down hill on that bad pavement to a low-water bridge. Then first-gear uphill going around a hairpin turn at a pretty steep angle.
They all seemed to have enjoyed the experience even though challenging. Nobody really had any problems with it so it was a lesson learned. Something less to fear in the future.
Fantastic feed last night. I know we had Pheasant lasagne, elk and venison sausage, elk cutlets, rabbit chili, sliced wild turkey breast and a lot more I can't remember.
I remember Hard 6 saying the rabbit chili was 'to die for'. That to me is a pretty good recommendation. We kept him stuffed all weekend.
I am very happy with attendance. We were blessed with nippy, but beautiful weather. A little gusty at times, but just made a challenging, fun weekend.
We shall see what others post on here about their impressions.

My daughter met is in San MArcos to drive him home. He had a seroius Asthma attack and she drove him to the ER where we met her. He's fine now.... perky as ever!

The only complaint I have for the entire weekend was .... TOO MUCH GOOD FOOD!
First, Wizard and I met Strider and Hard 6 at the Texas border. Then we stopped for lunch, ate far too much good food. The next morning Hard 6, Strider, Hotglue, FB, Wizard and I headed for Austin, stopping for some wonderful BBQ (almost as good as Hotglue's!). Again, too much food. Saturday morning, the Mid Winter Gathering group headed to breakfast, then a great ride to Fredricksburg, where we again ate too much. Back on the bikes and off to Dripping Springs for the Wild Game dinner, where we all stuffed ourselves. Again.
Thanks again, Early Bird! And tell Santa thanks for us again as well.

Got home last night at 7:15. 1091 awesome miles this weekend!! Whooo-Hooo! My computer is down and I am having to put this in from my wife's PC which is why I didn't post last night - I was busy trying to get my PC running - but I think it has given up the ghost.
I would like to say how LARGE A TIME I HAD AT THE TEXAS MID WINTER BLUES RIDE IN AND FEAST! Early Bird, you did a great job at putting this together and Texas Santa did a great job of leading 14 bikes (with 6 running 2 up) and a cage through some awesome scenery and great roads!
It was great seeing and riding with old family members and getting to meet 3 new family members.
Riding was awesome - food was second to none and the family reunion and fellowship is what it is all about. Complete ride report (with pictures) forthcoming. I may have to buy another computer today.
I would like to thank the posse that met us at the border and brought us in. A special thanks to Hotglue and FB for sharing their home, music, fire and food with us. Hotglue for riding us up and out! Yeah, I would follow that Harley anywhere - anytime! Especially when the couple on board have the VRCC membership numbers of 43 and 44 and their old valk was in the 400's ever made. Even if not, I would still follow that Harley anywhere - cause I love the people riding her and she sure looks and sounds good in front.
To all the family that we got to meet on the way and got to meet in Austin, thank you for allowing us to have fellowship and share a mile and a smile with you! You folks are awesome and brothers and sisters - one and all.
Again, thanks to Early Bird and Texas Santa for a great ride in, great digs and the people of Dripping Springs for allowing us to share in a feast that was as awesome as it was unusual.
I PASSED A VERY, VERY LARGE TIME!!!!!
The riding was great! I see where some said it was a tad cool - but everyone knew it would be and was dressed accordingly, so it was a NICE, NICE ride! I got to see country I have never seen before..and it sure was NICE!
Again, great TIME, great food, great ride and AWESOME FELLOWSHIP! Life just don't get any better......
Thanks again.
Again, I will post a ride report probably tonight and you sure don't want to miss the pictures! Hahaha!
Thanks!
