Some have found a tail light fixture from a standard Valk and put it on the fender. One of the best adds are Hyperlights. Search Amazon for them. Install them under the trunk.

For supplemental brake lighting, I installed a Whelen led Lite-Strip and zip tied it under the trunk and connected it to the wiring coming back for the trunk brake/tail lights. A blind person could not miss it, even during the daytime.  You can get it with turn signals also.  You will not be disappointed as these are bright, professional grade, Made in USA, and very well built.

Not quite on the road yet, but I got some...
All from http://www.radiantz.com/ -  I think I've put some of their kids through college over the past several years...  License late LED frame also from them.

Just seen under the trunk is a Tourer tail light, with an LED replacement board and a brake strobe:

Inside each round trunk light is a 48 LED cluster: they are a pita to install, as the trunk lites have to be removed, and then totally disassembled - heat gun, screwdrivers, fabbing some foam spacers, etc, and a bit of time; there is a how to on the site that is pretty good.  I use them as running/brake.

On the saddlebags, 5.5" length LED strips, REALLY bright, with dual element circuits for running and turns.

Here's the dual element circuits to make the Amp'd flex lights running/turn:

I'll assume you don't need info on the hack lights... Grin
I've had good luck with all their stuff - highly recommended.
I do like that spoiler lite by Bighead; hmmmm.

I added the Std tail light assembly under the trunk in the IS fender knockout.  It's all set up to take that light there, except for some wiring.  It is pretty bright even with just a std bulb because it is nearly always in the shade under the trunk.  Of course you can upgrade the 1157 bulb in that assembly to an led array.   http://www.amazon.com/Radiantz-Tail-Light-Honda-Shadow-Valkyrie-VTX/dp/B000TK8LY8
I did this on my supervalk; it is plug and play but believe I had to do a little trimming of the lens.

The IS trunk bulbs seem to last forever, but bulbs get old and dim, so replacing the bulbs after 15 years is probably a good idea.  There may be  upgrade bulbs available.

Here is an led upgrade for the trunk lights that I wish I had the skills to do (reliably).  Believe the authors are Red Barber and Grumpy (Bill).

LEDs  (1.85”  RED TAILLIGHTS)

Another pretty easy upgrade is an LED license plate frame.  You can get them in various iterations.  My supervalk is set up with RUN/BRAKE lights.  I have the single row of leds on the bottom because on the top is right under the stock plate light bulb. (Radianz, Back Off, Signal Dynamics)

Another thing I have on the supervalk (but not the trunked interstate), is a run-brake-turn controller to the turn signals.  Little box goes under the right side cover/or seat.  But you have to find red lenses  because you cannot run amber lights full time in back. But red turn signals are fine.

Be aware that even though the lens match for a lot of different taillights

on several different model Honda's,

The base for the taillight are not interchangeable and can be trouble

if trying to mount a non-Valkyrie taillight base onto the Valkyrie fender.
