Greetings!

Hope everyone is doing well with the cold temps!

I checked the ground temp up in Spearfish, SD yesterday and it was -12.  So I am feeling a little warmer here now.

Just curious who is planning on attending Inzane 2015,   I have not been to an Inzane and would really like to go this year.

From your past experience,

is that something most riders, just take off and make the trip solo?   or ride together with other local riders?

Are there vendors at Inzane? workshops?  it looks like some beautiful rides in the area.

Stay warm!

I am planning on going, will route thru Des Moines on the way up to ride with RJ from there to Spearfish.  I may or may not have others with me - too early to tell at this time.

It's always better to ride with at least one other person, but many do ride alone.  There is usually a couple of groups going.  Some groups tends to take the "long way" there (like routing through Florida and Maine to get to South Dakota) while the other groups take more direct routes.  Similar to rides we take around here, there are a lot more single riders coming back individually from Inzane than going.

There are a few vendors at Inzane, a few technical workshops, but most of the time is spent kibitzing with fellow Valkyrie riders, taking rides around Ground Zero with others, putting faces to the names you see on the forums/facebook and just enjoying the time riding with those folks.

As we get closer to the date, watch the forum.  Hayhauler and Disco are normally ringleaders for the longer rides.  I have led the more direct route a couple of times.

I c now.   Callin' us out because we went through Colorado and north Dakota to get to Bellaire MI.  Well, I guess that's fair.  But it was a most excellent adventure.
Plans are way up in the air at this point and will solidify as the date gets closer.

I don't know, Jimmy.  RainMaker may be calling us out because on that trip to MI and back we also went through NM, WY, SD, MN, WI, IL, IN, MO, AR and could see NE.

Either that, or he's poking us for the year before when we went through LA, MS, AL, GA, TN, NC, VA, KY, OH, IN, WI, IL, IA, MO, and AR on the way up and back.

Wow.  Just typing that makes my butt hurt.  I need a new seat before we do something like that again.   uglystupid2   COME ON JUNE!   Cheesy

Hay Hey Hold on now just a minute Rocketman. Let me explain Roll Eyes. You can't just blame them for not being able to read the map. Disco and HayHauler where merely following me, all supposedly because I had cruise control 2funny 2funny and we still got there in time. If I could only do it again I wouldn't change a thing!!! Those trips are some of the best (motorcycle) vacations I have taken ever.................well not counting family vacations of course (disclaimer just in case my wife reads this post).

Cheers ya'll TJ.

I don't make up the facts - they are what they are and they speak for themselves.  BigTex needs to know that he should plan to be out a few days longer if he rides with certain groups.

I wish I had the extra days available for those "longer" trips, but working for one's self is often the most difficult type of job to get away from.

I think the earlier days are best for group activities, the later days best for rides in the area with fellow riders you may have never ridden with or gotten to know.  Check the Inzane link for schedule info as it becomes available. 60 days out, you'll probably see that.

If you've never seen that part of the country, my recommendation is to pull out the stops and try to make Monday through Thursday possible.  There will be lots of folks arriving on Sunday and not leaving until Friday.  I predict that hanging out at ground zero will be sparsely populated during the days because the local riding opportunities are so attractive.

Plus, although we are a comparatively small group, there are too many characters to meet in just a night or two.   Roll Eyes

Last year was the first time I had attended Inzane. I had a 98 std for a couple of years and never left the state.  Last year I made two trips from Spring Tx on my 99 Interstate. One was to Ashville with Early bird. He was a good guide and really helped me set the pace. On the way back we started out as a group of 4 but split up the second day. I rode into Texas with Rainmaker and we split up at the state line. I heard about the routes that Disco and Hayhauler took and wish I had slowed down.  I also took a trip to visit family in Kentucky In October. I took 4 days to get there going thru Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri before even entering KY.   I left Lexington KY Friday morning about 4AM and was in Spring TX Friday night about 11:30. When  you area alone, you run the risk of getting stranded but can set your own schedule. One of the nice things about groups is the pool of spare parts and bike knowledge can fix anything. One rider, that was alone, had a break down and lost his bike to a Honda dealership for 4 days waiting on them to figure out he had a blown fuse.  I plan to make SD in three days going up and probably three coming back. I leave Friday mornings about 4AM. It is always nice to be out of town when the crowd hits the road. I should be sliding thru Dallas about 9:30AM on the way up unless I hold back to join a group. I don't have much patience. I have never seen a Valk the color on our graphics this year.

I'm heading up on Thursday morning, looking at 3 days travel to arrive on Sunday.  TxDeb will be on that trip riding one of her purple Valks as well and we will not be on interstate highways - just country roads and state highways, stopping Friday night near Des Moines.   Should you wish to join up on that trip, you are most welcome.  As said earlier, Disco and Hayhauler will likely have a different route planned and will probably post something about their trip as we get closer to the date.  In any case, plan to ride with at least one other for safety factor alone.  It's also more fun to share the adventure.

Hey BigTex AKA Larry, I am leaving for Inzane on Saturday morning the 6th of June and arriving Spearfish, S.D. the evening of the 7th of June. As of right now I am riding solo. If you want to ride along, you are welcome to do so. I am leaving on Friday morning the 12th of June headed back to Texas. We might have some others join in on the ride and we might not. Let me know if you want to ride along. Looking forward to meeting you. Six Guns AKA Victor    Smiley

I'm sorry to say that I will not be able to make the trip to Inzane this year. I will be spending my time with my parents in Georgia. Everyone have a safe ride and have a good time. Maybe next year.   Smiley

We'll miss you, Victor, but family comes first.   cooldude

Our tentative plan for a May departure is firming up.  The Three Amigos have morphed into Fantastic Four with the addition of one of 5_19's good buddies.  It's probably a wise thing, too.  He's a Sheriff's Deputy!   police   We also have a spousal unit joining us for the first week.

We'll start gathering on the 29th and will be in CO on the 30th.  It will take us about a week to make it from CO through WY to MT before we take a hard right.  We'll be in Spearfish on Sunday the 7th.  We might touch ID, but won't get to UT, OR, or WA, on this trip, anyway.   coolsmiley
