Hello guys, this is my first post. In the spring of 2014, I traded in my Suzuki M109r for a 1800 Valk. standard, not the F-6. In over 40 years of riding, this is the smoothest ride I have owned. I have been having a lot of trouble finding after-market stuff for the Valk. The usual venders- Kuryakyn, Show Chrome, Rivco have not jumped on the  Valkyrie bandwagon. Maybe the bike has not sold as well as expected. I am looking for some nice master cylinder covers. I ordered the ones from Honda, but they have that stupid Dot 4 stuff printed on them. Has anyone found a good source for aftermarket stuff?

This is a good reference for interchangeable parts.   Keep it in your PC somewhere for future reference.

That's interesting!  I traded my 07 M109R for a new Valk just after Christmas.  Shifting the Valk compared to the M109R is night and day.  I had not realized how hard the M109R was to shift until I bought this bike.  Here's a good link for some parts for the Valk.

Thanks Kendog 2 and RJ.  Kendog- I was worried that the Valk would not have the same power as our M109.  But I believe it does, it is just smoother.  The Valk has about 5 less ponies, but it has more torque according to Motorcycle Consumer News.

I can feel a little difference in power.  However, I can ride the Valk more aggressively because it's easier to shift and maneuver.  I also don't have to worry about replacing clutch cables every 15k miles since the Valk has a hydraulic clutch.  Not to mention, I was only getting about 130 miles per tank with the M109 vs 180 miles per tank with the Valk.  Overall, the Valk was an upgrade for me.

Kendog, I agree with you- gas tank is bigger, and I believe better gas mileage. Lets not forget the rear tire. I jumped up to Metz.- 260 on the back of my 109 and did not even get 2 season out of it, and the riding season is short here in upstate New York. The new tire was well over $300. You are right about the handling-  I had to muscle the 109 into corners- maybe because of the 260 on the rear, the Valk -(even though it looks HUGE) handles much better.

People forget rotating mass is the worse kind of weight.  I had a custom build with a 300 tire and 52 degrees of total rake.  Turning an 18 wheeler was easier.  But that bike was built with firm over function.  I think the new Valk urine handles as well as any other modern bike.  I do think the front is a little light.  I have a good bit of noticeable intermittent   vibration in my front at highway speeds.  I think some of that is due to the crappy   handle bar mount OEM  windshield sending energy straight to the bars into my hands

I think the Memphis Shades Hellcat might be a lot better, it was very windy on my test
ride yesterday, though...

Based on the design of the bike I doubt there will ever be anything other than handlebar mount wondshields.  No bike is perfect so that will just be one of the things I have to live with on the Valkyrie.
