This post is way off topic put I am asking for guidance.

I went up to my deer lease near Livingston Texas and saw where someone had planted thousands of these plants on a long strip of commercial land in front of our lease. We leased this land for 30 years but they raised their fee and then cleared all the trees last year. The land was grubbed and furrowed and I thought they were going to grade it and plant grass. Instead they planted thousands of these plants. They are not the typical pine tree we are use to seeing and I do not have a clue what it is.  Let me know if you know anyone with a horticulture degree that knows young plant leaf patterns.   It will be interesting to watch them grow over the next years.

I'm not a horticulturist but my guess would be periwinkle.  It's planted as ground cover.  It grows and spreads fast.

My guesses:

periwinkle - more viney, not a woody stem plant...

  eucalyptus -

question: what do you do for eucalyptus?
answer:    kerosene or fuel oil works. <g>

I don't think anybody grows eucalyptus on purpose...

It's not periwinkle.

It looks like a shrub, but DAMNIFIKNOW.

Land is owned by some kind of investment group. Don't know who to contact.

Show the pic to someone at your local Texas A&M Agricultural Extension Service office. There is one in every county in the state.
