Was gonna upgrade the server and a workstation today at the office with the help of a friend.  Been putting it off.  Always a PIA.

Started the first one up, XP started to load and then it quit.  Tried again with same results.  Numerous other attempts the same.

Finally, my buddy, a true blue computer geek and bonafide tech, got into the bios setup and it said bios checksum error.  Told me it was time to call tech support for the computer (this one was nonreturnable, but still had a warranty).  He talked to them for a while and they are sending out parts to me.  Have to wait to see if it'll be okay.

2nd computer was brand new, just opened it today.  DOA.  Nuthin.  No start at all.  Called Tigerdirect and they issued an RMA #.

Pisser, was all inspired to upgrade the 'puters' today.  No such luck.

Time to ride.....

On the one that does nothing at all, assuming no fans turn on, no power at all?

If so old tech trick you can try. Make sure it is TURNED OFF, then flip the 120/220 selector on the power supply back and forth really fast several times, making sure you leave it on the 120 setting of course, and then see if it'll turn on for ya'...

Tried that, no go.

Doc, when my Dell did that on arrival, I picked up the tower, dropped it about 6" or maybe 8" to the floor, plugged it in, turned it on & it has been going ever since,

Next week I'm thinking about having Kamikaze build me a super fast box, or maybe he is just ordering that way.     I know he used to build them...

Used 1 of the new ones at the garage the other day, compared to my box that one was a 800 cubic inch V12 puttin out about 1,800 hp at 3,500 rpm with a puffer on top giving a 15# boost.
