I am wondering if anyone has discovered a three or four prong flasher that the two outputs are only closed (not bridged) during activation. Normally open.
Seems to me that it would be so much simpler to use a flasher that does not require the use of a DPDT switch, inline diodes, dual relays, dual flashers, or any other known method.
I would like to apply power to the flasher with a switch from the Kuryakyn handlebar mounted three place switch block.
If that animal (flasher) does exists could you please provide the maker and part number.

Thanks,

Thanks to our old friend Chet, here is a link to his web site, and a great 'How To' for 4 way flashers...

I would just go to a local electronics supplier and ask for a 2-pole 12VDC relay of appropriate current rating and be done with it.  Have your Kury switch power the relay coil.  Panasonic ACW212 would do it, rated at 45A (I know, overkill, but try to find a 2-pole 12VDC relay).  Alternately, 2 regular relays in tandem would work.

I wired mine like GR said, the relay you want is available from this supplier.http://www.delcity.net/store/Normally-Open-Relay-w:-Dual-87-Contacts/p_791795

They have a lot of quality stuff for 12v wiring

On my VTX and Green Valk, I used Chet's method to get 4 ways and also used the same switch , in the opposite position for my LEDs.  I found the LEDs would not trip the flasher to flash.

Mine stopped working when I switched to leds, had to install an electronic flasher. Now they work fine.

Thanks to all of you for your replies.
BW, I just spoke to Spiro over at Del City.
When I told him what I was trying to do and find, he immediately said part # 73930 will do what I want to do. Very surprised.
The 73930 is a three post thermal flasher, X=power, L=load, P=pilot. He said L and P are not bridged. Hook one turn signal tap to "L" and one signal tap to "P". Left and Right turn signals will not cross talk. We will see.
I ordered # 73930 and will post results once test is done.
I am not too confident that it will work right now.
It would seem to me that in all these years someone would have successfully used this method of a three prong flasher instead of the 4 or 5 other methods being used.

Seems it outta work (with rattlebar's schematic). *P* to me means *Port*. That is, that particular prong is normally wired directly to the blinker's idiot light (port) on the dashboard, meant for cars. It taps the flasher pulses itself, so Left or Right signal is moot. You'll have to test for continuity between the L and the P prongs. If there is continuity there'll be cross feed at their internal confluence. If no continuity, than there's a internal diode wired integral to the P or L prong.

Oh btw if you were to replace the Oem flasher with a L/X/P flasher, it actually eliminates unintended 4-way flashing, in place of the diode solution, though you still have to join the left/right wires together on the idiot light, and configure a ground wire. I just haven't found a Port flasher that blinks at the proper rate at least to my eyes. With leds on the front signals only, the flashing was okay. With leds on the front and the rears, the activated side's flashing was retarded, but for a 4-way flashing mode it's probably not an issue.

Below, equivalent schematic (my apologies for the subthread).
