If you going to buy new shocks, why not get some Progressives (412, 440, etc)?

Savago , I looked at the progressive 412 however there are more numbers that follow that I'm not quite sure which one has the right eyelets diameter as the Valk, knowing that our valk shock eylets are two different diameters is where the help is needed, I appreciate it though

Larue, go on ebay and type in "valkyrie shocks".....you'll find a bunch of different types for the Valk. I have 412's on mine.

Actually, one is air, the other is a spring. So both sides would not look the same, wont matter behind saddle bags.

Works Performance Shocks will also build you a custom set.  Length, spring rate, adjuster style, offset ends (if you need them), finish, color, etc.  About 2X the $ of Progressives, but good folks to work with, a superbly functional and long lasting product, made entirely in the US, and re-buildable. 

I dropped $300 on Heavy Duty Progressive 412's a few years ago for my GL1200 hack.  Talked to them about the application, took their recommendation, bought em.  They were pogo sticks within a year, with zip damping; boinga boinga boinga boinga... The rig was borderline unsafe at speed over bumps around corners.  Called em up literally 367 days after I bought them.  "Sorry, these only have a one year warranty, and that is for manufacturing defects only.  It sounds like yours are worn out, and that is not covered under warranty."  I asked if they could rebuild them: "Well; these are cheap import shocks, so they are not rebuildable".  For $300, I about fell out of my chair.  I then tried to go up their chain of command, and got NOWHERE with their customer service.  Except that they would sell me a new set for list $, with a new 1 year warranty; which were ALSO not re-buildable.     

Went to Works Shocks and have never looked back.  Think I have bought 5 sets now for different bikes; they started giving me 10% off on the 3rd set.  THAT is how you get, and keep, customers. 

A lot of folks on this site like Progressive, and I'm not questioning their decisions/experience.  But wearing out shocks in 10000 miles is not my idea of quality, and their Customers Service ranks right up there with Comcast.  They will never see another $0.01 from me.

It's possible to spend $2k on a custom set of shocks; but for the performance/price point, I'm happy with the Works.  Matter of fact, I have a set of 1" over Black Trackers set up for my 195lb weight, for ...ahem.. sport touring going on tomorrow.  Let me know if you want pics.

14" Shocks, for your hack (sidecar) or a 2-wheel Valk?

In our Valk world 195 is light, so I'm assuming these will have some nice long/smooth travel in them.

I cannot post private pics on here, but if someone can, please get Pago to send you a couple to you to post for us to look at.

The PS 412s are just so so (and I'm thinking the hack setup beat them up in short order due to extra weight and stress).  The 440s are great, but they do (all) have to be rebuilt eventually.  And they've quit making the 440s for something else now.  One of my two interstate's 440s are not leaking but not as good as they used to be, and I need to turn them a few turns harder.

Thank you guys for all the insight on different quality shocks here, my real question was what other shocks from other bikes are interchangeable with the Valk ! Is the vtx 1800 one of them??
