Well boys and girls or guys and gals it been awhile since we've had any informal rides so I ask this question:

Anyone want to ride on Sunday February 15th?

Meet up at Jack in the Box in Alvin (Route 6 and 288) at 9:00 am. Destination to be determined by interest whether yours or mine. Probably head west and north with an eating destination as the turn-around (Lyn-del told me that would get more interested). Obligatory wrong turns will be encountered. Mandatory lap on CR 42 out of Rosharon (got some new asphalt and it's kind of nice now).

Kickstand up at 9:30 AM. Make sure you have a full tank of gas (gas stations at the meeting place).

That Jack in the Box is in Manvel, not Alvin -- just so no one gets lost.

I think I should be able to make it.  You riding Wing or Hoopti?

I'll ride the wing. Wouldn't be prudent to try and lead a group of big bikes with something that does 55 mph.

Let me talk to the boss and she if she's up for it.  She's been riding every day to work this week with the nice weather, so if that holds she'll probably be up for it.

I will be there.  If BJ doesn't have to work THIS Sunday, she might make it too!

Any idea where you're going?  Still think I can make it, couple things left to do first.

Thinking ( as Quick Draw McGraw would say " I'll do the thinnin around here Bobaloie ) of making the turn around point Hruska's Store and Bakery in Effinger TX. Hayhauler and I found a nice road with some turns in it below Fayetteville.

Route be something like this:
S out of Malvin to CR 42 and Cow Pens to West Columbus. If you haven't seen this monument for Texas Independence we could do that. Then west to FM 1103 to Eagle Nest then to Columbus TX. North out of Columbus to FM 2912 (?). Obligatory wrong turn here. Turn left on FM 995 (?) to get to Hruska's for lunch. At that point depending on how everyone feels we can go to Jimmy's favorite Pie Place or head back. Peel off places at the riders choosing.

That's what I was thinking.

Got my trailer unloaded without seriously damaging my shoulder any further, so it looks like I'll be joining you.

Rain is predicted, beginning late morning I think.

I made it home about 3PM.  I hope Charley is not to soar due to his fall.  The bruises and rash will go away but the Goldwing is gone.

You can't drop that bomb without some further explanation.  Sounds bad.

Charlie, Land Elephant, went off the road.  He walked away.  The Gold Wing is totalled.  Last I heard, he's gonna be sore tomorrow!!

To all I did wreck today while leading a ride to Hruska's.  We were 3 miles outside Eagle Lake on FM 102.  I entered a left hand turn at about 50 mph when I lost control of the wing.  There was an angled drop off to a ditch.

I was able to get the wing turned so it slid on the left side along the angle in the gravel for about 30 ft (my guess) and able to get out from underneath it just before it high sided and flipped.  The wing has a safety zone built in so I hugged the gas tank and kept from getting much damage to my shoes and pants.  I had a backpack on and it took the brunt of the damage off my back.

The wing is totaled.  Frame is cracked.  All three bags are damaged. Front doghouse and windshield are gone. Most of the side plastic is damaged or missing.  I not hurt much. Small abrasion on my left shoulder. a couple small bruises on my left butt check.  Couple small abrasions on my left leg. but I'm sore.

I was lucky and I know it.  So now I'm riding "The Hoopty".  This will be the first time in 40 years my ass isn't in the seat of a wing or valk.  I will look for a new bike.  have my eye on a Triumph Tiger 800 ABS XRX that comes out this April.

Thanks to Jimmy (Hayhauler), BJ, Marcus, Lyn-del, and Rick Gooley for helping me.  A gentleman by the name of Sammy stopped and he gave me a ride back to Kirkland where BJ picked me up and took me back to my trailer in Angleton.

Sorry to hear of your accident, very glad to hear you are not injured badly. You can always get another bike, heal quickly.

Sorry to hear about the accident but happy you are (more or less) OK.  As was said, motorcycles can be replaced.  You had a good group with you, that's for sure.
