I am not new to the Darkside I wore out two Falken 205 70 16 on my standard and I love them.  So I put one on my 2000 Interstate.  I did the cage removal etc.  I made a 250 mile ride yesterday two up as usual with shocks at high setting and heard a rub on hard road bounces. When I got home put it on jack and I have a rub on the right side. Clearance is fine on the swingarm, same as on my Standard. looks like it is just too close on the right side of the fender near the fender bolt.   Anyway to fix this?? Thanks

Is it hitting the nut or the fender?  I did the cage removal, but still had to use a carriage bolt from the inside, as it hit the nut sometimes.
Have not heard of using a 70 series tire.  Are they available?  How much taller is that than standard.  I would think that is the problem.   A 65 is taller, a 70 is taller yet.

Yep... 70 would be even taller than a 65.  You're pushing the limits with this one.  However, it's only a smidge taller, so MAY be possible.

If it's rubbing on the sides, try the "washer trick".  I think it's somewhere in the shop talk section, but just in case, I'll give you a run down.

That chrome rail that connects at the top of the rear shock and runs back along the rear fender can be spread out a touch.  Simply put a washer between this rail and the sub frame of the Valk (middle bolt of the rail, not where the shock connects).

This will cause the far back end of the rail to move outward a bit, giving a little more room for those wide 205 tires.

If the rubbing only occurs when you are 2-up, you may be getting a slight twist in the swing arm due to a bad shock.  If the shock springs and dampening are not equal, one side will rise faster than the other and put a little flex in the swing arm so the top of the tire goes to one side.  It doesn’t take much.

Check the alignment of the swing arm to tire by removing the shocks and lifting the tire up into the fender.  If the tire does not rub at that time, you may have what I just described.  If it does rub, you’ll need to look further.

I was running some shorter than stock air shocks on mine for a while and running two up the tire would rub the metal box in the top of the fender that the wiring plug lives in if we hit rough roads. I ended up going to 13in progressive 440HD and the problem was gone.

I'm a visual learner, hopefully this will help, if the link works. A friend sent it to me, he got it from another Valk rider. Hope it helps Wink

My fender was off to the right 3/4" I used three washers and it's dead on center.

Another very good read... The Darkside (car tire) in "shop-Talk"

The Washer Trick worked great. Thanks. Did 275 miles yesterday 2 up on some really bad roads and no rubs.  Tundra nice video, and thats exactly how I did it. Again Thanks.
