Dang, that's bright.  How much work was it to mount it?

Mounted to bottom of trunk with a couple of L brackets.. Light was from 80 GL1100 standard tail light.. The nice touch is the Trailblazer modulating bulbs.. Had the tail light kicking around but the 2 bulbs were $60 bucks a pop..

Well I have to say that adding extra light on the rear is good but I want to remind all you riders that over 80% of all motorcycle accidents occur to the front of the motorcycle. Using the clock as the indicator would mean 80% of all accidents occur from ten o'clock to two o'clock.   So working on reducing possibilities of accidents to the rear is only affecting less than 20% of accidents.

Now please don't take this as criticism of what anyone does to make their bike more safe to operate, but what I merely want to point out, is money and effort can give the best results when used to mediate the frontal assaults by other vehicles.

My effort was to install modulators on my I/S headlight and I have seen positive results since doing  so. Twice now, I know the modulators have saved me from a car pulling out from a side street too fast without looking. The modulators stopped them in their tracks, almost all the way out into the street. Stupid idiots on phones!

Just wanted to point this out.

Back in June 08 I was rear ended @ a stoplight, yes a red light on my 2000 1500SE by someone talking on cell phone.. Bike totaled, 2 weeks in hospital, $200K in medical bills and a year screwing with lawyers and insurance company pricks.. And yes I run PIA driving lights on the front..

Thanks Ricky for the good info.

Pete,  I can't imagine what you've been through.  I can easily see what motivates your new lighting, and have no doubt it will be effective,  especially with the Trailblazers.

I liked the idea up until you said you had used "L" brackets to the bottom of the trunk.  I dream about modifying my trunk brackets to make my trunk "quick release" .  I love the look of the Super-Valk and I imagine that someday I'll get there.

I think I'll add "Hyper Lites" on the rear  as well as a standard rear tail lens in order to make the Super Valk mod work for me.  I have seen and heard great things about the Hyper Lite line!

I think yours would now be considered "SUPER HYPER"  cooldude

For I/S's, you can add a tail light from a Standard or Tourer, even a Shadow I think.  I installed a Valk standard light on my I/S with a LED bulb panel inside and WOW.... it's bright.  Plus, when I get to the Super Valk mod I will be set with the light.  Already have a backoff modulator that works well.
