OK, forgot masking tape and numbers on my ignition coils and wires. Quick question. IN the wiring diagram for ignition in the Clymer manual, the numbering on the spark plugs directly match the cylinder number? Figured it probably did, but also figure it is worth asking before hooking it up wrong and trying to crank it up.

One thing to remember, the coils are in three different locations which are pretty much in a straight line front to back. The front one is for the two front cyl., middle one for the two middle cyl., and....you get the picture.

Question is not th connection of the plug wires, but the connection of the electrical wires that connect to the top of the coils

As I recall (and that's questionable at my age ), look at the connection points on the coils. Seems to me that the base of the little blades sticking up are colored and match the color of the connector that is pushed on them. For instance.....the base would be black and a wire with a black push on goes on it. I might be wrong on this so take a look, might look at the front one on the left under the tank, easiest to get to.

Your right John, all the black/white wires go to the the black terminal, yellow wires to the green terminal.

The yellow wires are two color wires. One is yellow with a blue stripe. The other is yellow with a different color stripe. The climber manual has a color wiring diagram in the back and it has each ignition coil numbered EX. 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 I was wondering if those numbers matched up to cylinder numbers or firing orders. I was hoping that if I knew that much I could determine which wire went where. According to the wiring diagrams it didn't look like it mattered which black wire went on which black plug. But the yellow stripe wires look like they would. I guess if I try it and it doesn't work I can try to switch them. And I am only talking about the back ignition coils. The front ones are easy enough to figure out.

Remember what I said about the coils and which cyl. they go to? The 3-4 is the center two cyl. and it will be the forward coil of the two located by the petcock control. And....5-6 will be the rearmost of the two and is for the two rear cylinders on either side.
Now, if you were using a HONDA shop manual, we wouldn't be having this discussion. For the record, here's how it shakes out: y/w=front coil y/bu=center coil y/r=rear coil
Sorry if this came across wrong, but you just can't beat the shop manual when it comes down to brass tacks.

That actually just answered my question perfectly. The yellow and blue will go to the center coil and the yellow and red will go to the rear. Perfect. I actually have a guy I am buying a Honda manual from, I just had to wait to a payday to go get the money order to get it. So, thanks for reminding me to go take care of that today.
