Tach Lights

I have a 2000 Interstate and the tach lights have started to go out, particularly 4,000 and above.  Is it an easy fix?  Has anyone been through the process and can help with this?

I haven't done an I/S but I just did my Tourer. I'd recommend you replace every light in the dash while you have it apart. I didn't realize how dim the other lights were. Looks like a new bike. You can even change colors!

thanks.. what did you use for reference to do the work?  I read about using the Sylvania long life bulbs as replacement but don't have access to the service manual, I'm away from home for a couple of weeks.

Your going to have a hard time finding replacement bulbs at the auto stores.

Need to find some that have close to the same bulb base.  They are miniature type bulbs.

Take one out and you'll see what they are like.

As much as I hate to say, maybe the Honda dealer might be the best option.

And yes, change them all - it  will be a good thing to do.

I found a brighter bulb in the right size for my Standard speedometer at a Harley dealer.

The instrument lights are common and can be found at any autoparts store.  Here's what I used last: Instrument Light Bulbs - Sylvania #2723 or Generic bulb style #193 1.7w to 5w.  1.7w is stock.

To get to the instrument lights on the I/S, you will need to remove the windshield and the chrome "HONDA" plate from below the windshield.
