De-smog question
«
on:
March 10, 2015, 12:52:49 PM »
Pulled everything apart yesterday on my bike and ready to finish off the de-smog. Plan to use the factory plugs to complete the job. So my question is where exactly do you use the jb weld on the factory plugs. Kinda confused over here.
Thanks.

Are you referring to the plug that's at the end of the piping? Are looking to plug the orifices in the block, should be four of them. Sorry I'm confused. ???

I like the shiny desmog kit from redeye, but they are not available right now. You could use plugs from an auto supplier but be careful not to crack the block. Some have used coins as plugs. If it were me, I would JB Weld the end of the 4 pipe openings for now then install the shiny plugs that come in the Redeye kit. FWIW

14 mm freeze plugs. Or you can go here http://www.xf6-custom.com/partpages/desmog.html

If you are re-using the stock top pieces, you would need to cut/break off the pipes leading to them, and put JBweld inside the hole where the pipe was. You are just looking to create a seal so air does not escape.
