Quick question.  If I am just putting new tips on using truck stacks, do I use the 4" ID or OD pipes?

I suspect they need to be 4" ID. Contact One of our members, MarkT, he will know for sure. Mark is the guy in the picture in the Airflow website given below.

The truck stacks will need to be 4" OD.  I have AirFlo on my bike...straight cuts...36" long.

Below is a how to from Shoptalk on how to install the truck stacks over your stock mufflers.

Thanks Joe.  I do not want to go with full stacks though.  I just want to pull the tips off and put turn downs on the standard.  I have some 40" straight stacks that I built and exhaust for my standard with years ago, but the wife thought it was too loud.  Now I just need the look which I was hoping would not include full pipes but only new tips.

18" replacement tips:

Beware that turn downs (as opposed to miter cuts turned down) will be prone to dragging when leaving aprons, especially leaving aprons at an angle leaned over to turn into a street.  Big turn downs will do the same thing if aimed sideways at 3 and 9 O'clock.  And somewhat worse if shocks are lower than OE 13".

Are they still turn downs or do they look more like slash cuts now?

Still turn downs, LOL....I had as turn outs. They got some dents and scrapes on the bottom edges of the tips, but not on the tip of the tip ad I recall.    I'm guessing if you had stock height shocks, set on 4 or 5 and didn't ride two up and are under 200lbs.....They might work, provided you didn't come off or go in any steep or deep curbs or over high speed bumps at any speed.  I went back to stock tips.  I'll have to see if I have a photo with them on....so you get an idea.

The bottom edge is scraped and you can see that it is more oval or flattened on bottom edge.
