you can run a clutch without the damper spring assembly, we pull them out all the time on our sportbikes and dragbikes. just have to replace them with steels to keep the overall clutch pack height the same as oem.
by the way, i have taken measurements on the valkyrie friction plates and they are exactly the same as a suzuki Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX14. they will also interchange with many other bikes such as the tl1000r... fyi hayabusa clutches are cheaper cause they sell so many to dragracing customers, supply and demand....
so there is some food for thought, There are many aftermarket places that sell just the plates and steels. you could resource a cheap clutch setup than oem with exactly oem style plates, what is important is to keep the overall clutch pack height the same as per the valkyrie manual regardless how many frictions and steels that requires.
