Ran across an interesting item on the internet that I thought would add safety and just look cool IF it would fit on my Batwing, join me in my adventure.

Bat Lashes, the worst named motorcycle accessory ever!

I started by marking where to mount the lights; I used painters tape.  It was a major chore to line up since the light is an exact fit and the wires come straight out the bottom so you can't just flop 'em on the fairing and mark 'em.  The only instructions supplied by Kuryakyn are "line it up as well as you can".

I was doing this by myself so here I have all of the tape ready once I get the light where I want it.

Once I had both sides taped off I measured from some set points to make sure all marks are even.

Drill baby drill!!!

After getting back from changing my shorts, I flipped the fairing over to drill the holes in the fork mount towers, I doubled the size of the bit to make it easier fishing out the wires.

I stuck a piece of safety wire through both holes to pull the wires through.

I remounted the fairing to keep it stable and make it easier to work with while mounting the lights.

Here they are mounted.

Lit with the garage lights on.

Lit with the garage lights off.

Did I get a perfect fit? Nope!  It's pretty close and someday I may pull them off and get a better fit by elongating the holes for the wires.  3/16th is just big enough for the wires and leaves no room to adjust, I suggest going to a 1/4 bit instead so there is a little wiggle room, the light is 1 3/16th wide so you can hide the holes.  I may buy the unlit set just to get my marks and then make my hole measurement for the lit set.

My next chore will be wiring these guys to the blinkers so they act as running lights and turn signals.

Those are very, very cool.  cooldude  And will show to the side as well as the front.

I assume LEDs?  Takes guts to drill holes in nice stuff.

Like all my carpentry, it always looks great from across the street, and nobody but you can tell the difference.

Bat Lashes, the worst named motorcycle accessory ever!

No kidding.  Eyebrows was probably already taken.

Lots of batwings on here:

Grin   Roger that!  Kinda like it's not a real project until somebody's bleeding or it's not a real ride until you have to make a u-turn!

I like that name way better, even Bat Eyes would have been better than Bat Lashes.
