I have just acquired a 97 Valk. I love it very much! The bike has been lowered approximately 1"-1.5" front and rear. I would like to return the front forks to the original position. What is the easiest way to slide the forks back while keeping them perfectly even, without damage to seals, etc. I do not have a center stand, but I do have a motorcycle jack.

Without a pic, I don't fully understand. Did the person slid the fork tub up in the triple tree? Did they replace the front fork with a different rake angle?

Do you have a service manual yet? If not, DL from Dag's website. That should show you how to set up the front forks.

Jack the bike up so the front tire lifts an inch or two.  Loosen the six pinch bolts on the trees slightly.  Rubber mallet the top of the fork caps till you get the height you want. (Stock is with the top of the tube flush with the top tree surface, the bottom of the cap should show)  Make sure both are the same. Re-torque the pinch bolts.

Stock fork, standard rake. Fork is slid up about an inch.

I am working on getting pics.

My forks are where the belong and I add this for more info. Replaced seals in right fork last summer naturally the wheel was off. When we reinstalled fork I made SURE before installing wheel that the axle lined up without binding anywhere. Lined up across and rotate nicely on the axle. And this info is worth ZACKLY what ya paid fer it!  2funny RIDE SAFE,

Like already mentioned, support the front of the bike before you loosen those forks, or your whole front could go for a dive.

I wonder if you should tighten the top first, then make the front bounce a little, and then tighten the rest. This is to insure that the axle is aligned. This is why I suggested the service manual and see what it says.
