Need help on how to unhook the throttle cables on handlebars to replace the grip

The white grip tube is broken off on the end. Toolk throttle apart but couldn't get it seperated to unhook the throttle cables. Anyone have any idea how to do this?

Pad your tank or dent it.

Loosen the adjustments on the cables and crank them all the way in.  Twist the throttle all the way open (down) and the aft ferrule and cable should come out of the slot.  The forward pops out easy after that.

Alternatively undo the two petrol tank bolts, lift the font of the tank and put a 1" block of wood to support it. You now have sufficient room to get your hands in to unbolt the cables from the carburettors then the other end is a piece of cake and no risk of a dented tank.

If you're going to loosen the bars and slide them to the left ,wrap a piece of tape around the leftside at the clamp and draw a line where the cap splits.Now you can put it right back where you found it.

I just use a black Sharpie.  Just pick a spot on the left side of the left riser and jab the Sharpie where the bar enters the clamp marking both bar and clamp at once.  Leaves no guessing where it was when you took it apart.
