I noticed this weekend, while changing the oil on my wife's Honda Element, that the Element oil filter and Valkyrie oil filter appear to be the same in O ring size and mounting with the Element filter slightly larger in length. Has anyone used the Honda car filter on their Valkyrie?

I found the same thing from our Honda CRV & now I have a 07 Pilot, they all use the 15400-PLM-A01 Honda oil filter, fits Valkyrie too. Figure if Honda thinks its good for the CRV & Pilot its got to be OK for my Valk too.
I have been buying my filters etc. from HandA-Accessories.com Last time I bought a six pack of oil filters they were 4.44 each ( 6 for 26.64) good deal

I use the same Honda filters on my Triumph Rocket 3, Valk, and my Wife's VTX. Makes life a lot simpler.

I use the Purolator Pure One 14610 which allows me to use a full 4 quarts of oil instead of 3.9.

I use pureone PL14459, largest dia that will fit. Same height as a stock filter.
oil change requires 3.7L or 3.9 US qt. 1 gal = 3.784L as on the Amsoil 10w30/30HD gallon jug (smoothest shifting oil I have ever used) or rotella T 5w40 has 1 gal = 3.785L

I am able to use the same filter on my Valk, BMW R1200C, Toyota T100, Dodge Neon and John Deere 455. That really simplifies the inventory.

My opinion: Filters are a waste of money.
The only thing filters really remove is water. Because of the paper element.
Ford motors did a study. The findings were that the internal combustion motor didn't start producing particles of enough size to do motor damage until after 2500 miles on the oil. The particle size was in the five micron range.
Find out what size particles your filter will filter out and it is in the ten to fifteen micron range. Way past the five micron size.
The final report was that if you changed the oil at an interval of 2500 to 3000 miles, a filter was not even necessary.
I change oil around 3000 miles and the oil filter every four oil changes. I use the cheapest filter I can buy. Fram
I've got 100k miles on my 2000 I/S

Agree somewhat. Have u ever cut open the filter after 12k and inspected the element? Dodge allows 15k change. There was a discussion on this about 2 yrs ago on bobistheoilguy site, that some paper elements were tearing after 3k miles notably supertech and fram and others of the same brand were not, might have just been a batch issue. I wonder if your ford test is the same SAE test I heard about, that stated similar results only that changing the filter at 3k increased wear. Basically over time a filter will filter better until it meets its capacity, same with an airfilter. Have u ever seen any test results on how long an oil filter element can last?
