Bikers don't need shrinks!

In addition to the Valkyries in the participants, it was good to see one of the escort officers burning up the road on a Valk. Great seeing you guys who came out, fearless that the Saturday rain might be repeated on Sunday. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure we had anyone from Houston. Eli is Beaumont, Jimmy is Pearland (I think), etc. Aren't there any Valks in Houston?  Grin

Your fearlessness was rewarded with pretty much perfect weather, BIG smiles on the faces of those kids, & a bunch of bikes of every kind. A local friend from just south of Houston won the brand new Goldwing.

And, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation behind it was at Texas Children's Cancer Hospital this morning to present them with a check to support their research/treatment programs for the kids.

As a side note, in addition to supporting research right here in Texas, the funds you raised support research being done in the leading research hospitals across North America and the treatments they develop are used worldwide.

What did you guys think of the Polaris Slingshots that were there? I did end up getting to test drive one and it was like driving a really powerful go cart. It wasn't mine so I didn't turn off the traction control, though.

Thanks to those who came and helped.  Hope you had fun.

Just saw this official report...

Children with brain tumors are Ride for Kids Stars. Houston motorcyclists came out to support their local Stars for the 23rd straight year on April 26.

Clear, sunny skies greeted more than 325 participants at the Humble Civic Center, including Stars Ceasar, Garrett, Javier, Kaitlyn, Malcolm, Nick, Noah, Tobin and Trent. As of ride time, motorcyclists had raised $162,702 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

“We cannot do the kind of research we are doing now without the dollars from this event,” said Dr. Frank Lin of Texas Children’s Hospital. “The research that the PBTF is funding is exciting and spot-on in what kind of projects need to be funded.”

As of April 27, the individual, motorcycle club/chapter and motorcycle business with the most raised were Judy Ferguson ($20,100), GWRRA TX-C ($24,338) and Northwest Honda ($107,134). The top non-motorcycle group was In Memory of Gene Brady ($38,053).
