You know here don't know about other states you can be written a ticket for riding in the left lane and slowing traffic even if you are speeding and the person behind you wants to drive faster you are still impeding traffic.

Same in Colorado. I will never understand people who think it is ok to sit in the left lane as long as they are doing the speed limit. It is not their job to regulate other's speed!

In the first little while of the video, you can see the shadow of a car in front of the pickup truck. The pickup wasn't holding back traffic, but was simply waiting behind the car for the car to pass the semis. By the appearance of the shadow, the pickup was already tailgating the car, but at least they were making progress past the semis. Then the Camaro appears and tries to force his way into the already-too-small gap in front of the pickup. The pickup driver wasn't initially trying to hold up traffic, but saw what a dangerous $#%*! the Camaro driver was and decided to make life a little inconvenient for him. I hope Mr. Camaro gets the book thrown at him. Mr. Dashcam should have kept back another second or two and was fortunate that the wreck happened out of his way. When I'm following someone who is passing a semi, I will stay back of the trailer (but not in his lane) until the car in front of me has cleared the semi and I won't be stuck beside it when I move to pass.

Yep. Correct sequence. Sad part is the trucker. Being one, I know what will happen. First, he will be drug and alcohol tested. He will have a LOT of explaining to do. Thank goodness for the dash cam! It WILL go on his safety rating with the DOT. They don't care whose FAULT anything is, just that he had an accident. Depending on how big his company is, or if he is an owner/operator, he will have expenses that are NOT covered by insurance. He will be out of work for weeks, waiting for repairs, without any compensation. It will cost him thousands, if not 10,000 or so, in expenses and lost pay. He will have to keep up on health insurance payments, truck payments, trailer payments, truck insurance payments, house payments, etc. etc etc. He is screwed. All because some immature s**t has no patience. The car driver will probably get a Care Required ticket. Sound about right, old2soon and SmokingJoe? MP

this dash cam will prove the camaro was in the wrong regardless of the pickup in front of him holding him up.
At first the pickup keeps moving past the semi, but I think he decided it was a good idea to piss the camaro off instead of what most will do is speed up some and pass the semi and get over to the right so the a-hole in the camaro can pass and be more of an idiot than he already is.
I'll eventually get over to the right lane ONLY when safe to do if there is a line of cars in the right lane and I am making progress passing vehicles in the right/slow lane. I will NOT put myself in danger getting between 2 slower vehicles on the right by putting my right turn signal on hoping to squeeze in between 2 slower cars in the right lane. Idiot behind me riding my ass can just go F himself if I am in the left lane passing up car after car in the slower right lane and not able to get over to the right/slow lane fast enough for him. I will NOT speed up past say over 10 mph above speed limit just because the a-hole behind me wants to go 20+ mph over the speed limit. 99.9% of the time the driver tailgating is at fault even if some a-hole in front slams on the brakes just to piss the guy behind him off.
Yes, I will get over to the right lane but only when safe to do so, not in between a huge line of cars already in the right lane tailgating each other going already say 5-7 mph slower than I am going.

Bonehead, maybe. But not as much as the Camaro driver. The pickup driver did hold up the Camaro, later in the recording, AFTER the camaro pulled his first bad move. However, the pickup driver did NOT drive down the median, lose control, and cause the wreck. After a couple million miles on the road professionally, I have learned you cannot react to provocation, period. You do not have the right to cause an accident, just because someone else is doing something you don't like, or even doing unlawful things. You just have to wait it out. 1. The Camaro should never have started it. The pickup was being held up by a car in front of him when the Camaro did the first stupid pass attempt. 2.As Camaro driver, if he would have slowed down, and backed off, even after it started, the pickup would have eventually passed, and the camaro could have gone on by.

Mel-you are right on all counts. BUT-there is ALWAYS a but isn't there-I've determined in my years and miles out there that when folks get licensed whatever smattering of knowledge they had learned to get licensed went out the window with the first text. I've had people force their way into my safety cushion come ripping up on either side and suicide hack in front of me to get to the fast lane or the exit. While some folks believe they can stop on a dime a fully loaded 18 wheeler needs about $100.00 in small bills laid end to end with a large gap between bills. I'm convinced the "average" driver these days has way less than average skills behind the wheel. AND before anyone here gets the wrong cursed idea I M H O there are too many folks behind the controls of an 18 wheeler that ARE NOTHING more than steering wheel holders. Takes a couple years to become a "driver". What the steering wheel holder in the Camaro tried initially with the pickup and failed at I just KNEW it was gonna go south in a hurry. But these steering wheel holders are everywhere-in your town in your commute and maybe just maybe-your family. RIDE SAFE.

Yep, If he had eased off the gas and let the douche slip in front none of that would have happened. Let the douche drive away and pickups day would have been fine. Everyone has to prove they've got the biggest one.

We just drove home to NY from Fl. The stupidity of some is just amazing.
We watched one accident happen right in front of us which ended up involving one U-haul truck and 4 vehicles. These vehicles all smashed to pieces and it luckily appeared no one was hurt.
Another idiot [ I'll refrain from telling the state he was from] went from the left lane at 40 mph right straight across 3 lanes of traffic all of which were traveling at 70-75. I just missed him by inches while staying away from him and everyone else.
There were other incidents but I won't into them. Its just surprising the stupid crap people pull.

REALLY bad attitude there. While I agree that we should all drive safely, NONE of us that aren't LEO's have the right to impede the flow of traffic. It's a sore point for me, as I have a dear friend who was "blocked" from speeding when driving his father to the hospital during a heart attack. Dad died in the car. Point is - you don't know why they're speeding. Get out of the way. Let them speed ahead. Geoff -Texans carry guns, and are known to shoot

Follow the law.
The left lane is for passing and making left turns ONLY.
ALL driving is supposed to occur in the RIGHT LANE.
If all of the above had been doing that, the end result of that bigger short arm contest would never have happened.

That may well be the law in YOUR state, but it is NOT the law in all states. In ND, where I live, it is NOT required to be in the right lane. I have listened a number of times on talk radio, when they have the head of the Highway Patrol on, and he has stated, numerous times, that there is NO requirement to move out of the left lane. And, that it is legal to pass in the right lane. In ND. MP

Where I live, on the main roads and freeways, all the lanes are full almost all the time. Driving 50 miles up and down I-95 today, I was able to jockey for a 100 yard stretch of pavement all to myself.... for about 7 minutes (a bike technique I also use in my car). The speed lane is 10-25 over, the middle lane is 10-15 over, the slow lane is 0-10 over. Take your pick. It's a little like NASCAR in a straight/curvy line, but with a thousand semis and other heavy trucks, just to keep things interesting. Every once in a while there's one law abiding citizen in a Prius doing 55 pissing EVERYONE off.
