fried electrical connector from ignition switch. NEED HELP.

99 Interstate.

Putting final pieces on bike after rebuild. After chasing a few electrical gremlins regarding turn signals. Tried to start bike for another test ride. Pushed starter button turned over and stalled out. Pushed starter button a second time and bike went totally dead, no lights no start etc. I did a continuity test on starter button , passed , I had just maintained it durin the rebuild.

All fuses are good with test light on both sides of fuse. I replaced starter relay to no-avail. I removed fuel tank and found the white 4 wire male / female white plug under the fuel tank was fried.  I cut and butt connected  the wires from the ignition switch and now have dash and running lights and can hear relays clicking when I push starter button. No headlights , no start.

Tonight I cut the wires again and performed a continuity test on the ignition switch, it failed. I have no continuity on the red / black wire to the red wire.

I'm ready to order a new ignition switch but was looking for a way to bypass the switch to see if the other systems are working. as I would like to order all parts needed.

Is your battery fully charged and in good shape?

Yes battery is newer, fully charged on a Genius charger. The problem is in the ignition switch.  I'm looking to basically hot wire the bike to make sure there are no problems with relays etc.

Thanks Joe, I've been studying rattlebars schematics last night and think I have it figured out. I was just looking for anyone's experience before I proceed.
