My Valkyrie Wont turn over / Start

I tried to start my Valkyrie for the first time since December and it won’t turn over. I had the battery on a trickle charger all winter (it’s less than a year old) so I think power it there. When I initially turn the ignition on I get lights. When I press the starter switch everything goes black. After several minutes I get lights and the same thing happens.  Any thoughts on what might be the issue?

Starter button cleaning would be a good place to start if you are sure you've got a good battery with good connections.

I had a trickle charger fail on me one year. I thought it was working as the charge/lighting LED's on the charger was glowing as it should do.
However, it had died and wasn't working. I had the same symptoms as yourself. I checked the battery with a multi-meter which showed it was well dead.
Had to get a new battery.

before doing anything else, jump it to your car and see if it starts.  If it does, put a real charge on the battery

Under this scenario...key on, lights on, hit starter and lights go out usually means loose connection at the battery.  Check that the cables at the battery are tight.

Trickle charger or Smart charger? If you left it on a trickle all winter, the battery is probably bad. My guess here is a dirty starter switch.

Not only cables at battery, but neg ground to block/frame tight/clean too.

Exact same thing happened to me after storage. It's the plug that goes into the starter relay. It had just enough green/white corrosion to cause temporary disconnect for a couple cycles then nothing. Cleaned it all up & everything was good to go. That is probably the beginning stages of overheat/burning condition of the connector itself that many have reported here.

yep, lots of possibilities...let us know which one(s) ends up being the culprit.  I reread your first post and changed what I replied here – it does sound like your starter button
