I've pushed this front tire as far as I am willing too.....most of you saw it at the party.
It was fine when I took delivery three weeks ago, but the subsequent 2500 miles has changed it's complexion somewhat.

I've deliberated between the Metzler 880 and the Avon Cobra.
Unless someone has some compelling first hand experience they would care to share that might
convince me otherwise, I have opted for the Avon Cobra.

Fire away....

When MGM was a 2 wheeler and with a DS tire on the rear, all I even run on the front was Metzler's.

Front tire, I had best luck and mileage with 43# in the front and 35# in the rear.

Just my personal reaction, I hate Avon's with a Passion.   I had nothing but problems with Avon tires.

We ran Metzler on  Lesa's VStar 1100 with nary an issue. Balanced well and very round. Excellent wear.
I ran them on my Magna as well with the same results. Wore one out on my Valkyrie. No issues.
Just installed an Avon on the front of Lesa's Valk last week. Expect the same results.
Coin toss. I chose the Avon due to the tread pattern for Lesa's Valk.

My last Valkyrie tire was an Avon, decent milage, changed it at 16,000 and still had some more to give.
I did find some low spots here and there, nothing too alarming, but I decided to change it since I felt a little bit of a woble when I hit 95+mph.
Decided to go with a Metzler 880 since that is all I had run before with my VTX 1300 and never had any issues.
Metzlers seem not to yield the same millage as other tires since they are a softer compound but I do feel that they have a better grip of the road therefore I do not mind if they cost a little more or if I have to change them sooner because of wear.
I always run 40psi on the front and the little woble is still there even with the new metzler, nothing major but something I am keeping an eye on and trying to find the cure.

So, my suggestion will be for the Metzler if you ask me.

BTW you got a GREAT LOOKING VALK but you need to play nice, post some pics and introduce the new family member  Grin

My preference is the Avon Cobra. I have 17,000 on my front tire which is just getting to the ware bar with perfectly even ware. I am very please with the ware, mileage, performance of the Cobra front tire. I also prefer the Avon's tread design. This is my second front Avon I am completely satisfied, no reason to even try anything else. (for me)

My experience with Metzler was good on other motorcycles and not so good on my Valkyrie. The front tire wore unevenly, cupped and was noisy with much less mileage. Many use Meltzer's and like them.
