What is the best cleaner to soak carbs in.
Is Berryman's Chem Dip any good?
Carbs disassembled and needing a good soak.

Thanks.......

Berrymans chem drip but you have to buy the 5 gal can to get the good stuff part number is 0905
If you buy the one gal can you don't get the good carb cleaner and it will not clean. Just bought a new 5 gal can today, I had to make them open it to make sure that it was the good stuff not the new crap before I would buy it.

Attic Rat, I didn't know there was a difference between the 5 gal, and the 1 gal Berrymans.  Do you happen to know the difference?  I bought some in the one gal container years ago, and thought it was pretty good stuff, but willing to look for better!

I too used and still have a 1gal can. Used on a KLR650 carb and it worked like a charm on a severely neglected bike.

They stopped making the good stuff in the one gallon can a few years ago. I have tried but I can't get the same stuff in a one gallon can. The one gallon can stuff now you can soak a carb for hours and still not get it really clean. If you soak the carb in the good stuff in the 5 gallon can  part # 0905  about an hour to hour and fifteen is all you want to soak it because it will start to turn the carb black from the strong chemicals.

i must have got the old. kLR from sitting in a barn and carb was filthy. Looked like new in short order. Not doubting. I must have just been fortunate.  cooldude

After recently purchasing a '97 Tourer "rescue" Valk, I used the 1 gallon Berryman Chem-Dip on all six, highly neglected carbs.

I extended the soak time to 25-30 minutes.

Worked like a champ!

Followed up the rebuild with a full kit from Red Eye.

Runs like new!
