Not sure how to get in touch with others that are riding into InZane 15 Spearfish from the home state. I live in the St Cloud/Clearwater area and will be camping at Chris Campground. Would be fun to ride in with others. Will be leaving Clearwater on Sat morning and lay over in Mitchell area that night. Drop me a line if you are so inclined!. Tom, dakotatomjones@gmail.com . Let's ride!

...camping at Chris Campground.
Hope to see you there. I have an older brother that lives in Foxhome, MN that I was unsuccessful in convincing to come to InZane. Unfortunately my brother said that he is too old to be camping anymore and won't be coming. I will be coming from the West.

I will also be leaving Sat morning, but will be traveling much farther than Mitchell. My plan is to stop at Kadoka SD which is just East of the Badlands and go on to Spearfish on Sunday. I'm staying at GZ, was concerned that my camping gear and my old bones could not handle the expected night time temperatures...

My buddy and I plan to leave St Paul about 5:30am Sunday and ride through to Spearfish taking hwy 212 out of the Twin Cities and follow it until we turn south into Spearfish. He did the route back from Sturgis last year and said it was a better road than the one he went out on which was hwy 14.

I used to travel between Aberdeen and Rapid City and took US12 to US212. It was a good road 40 years ago.

Big Bear, US-212 is out of the way for me traveling from Rochester but it looks like a good route coming out of the Cities. I usually travel I-90 out to the hills for Bike Week but I am considering going out on US-14 for a change. I will check for construction, but how would you evaluate 14 for travel out there?

Bob, I have never been West of the Cities on my bike. I live 2 miles from the WI border and do most of my riding back to family in WI and up and down the border from Duluth to Dubuque along the St Croix and Mississippi. My buddy said 14 isn't a bad road but takes longer than 212 to get from Sturgis to the Twin cities.

Hwy 14 in South Dakota is a nice smooth road & not heavily traveled ( in MN not so much) and if you like rolling grasslands, scenic. If you plan on taking HWY 34 after Hayes SD, make certain you have a full tank. Gas is difficult to come by.

Going out picked up 212 in Chaska , nice road, speed limit in SD is 65mph rode mostly at 70 to 80 . Talked to a county mounty in faith SD for a bit, MRS.T.P. asked him which way he was going, He was going East and said have at it! so we did. on the way home picked up 14 East of Wall, Great road as well, kept speed in the 65 to 80 range all the way across SD. Drops to 55 in MN. T.P.
