I noticed while I was home riding that every time I took a turn with any speed I would drag one of my highway pegs.  After looking closely I noticed that it was much lower than the other, 2 inches at the tip.  I adjusted it up and it was a much more comfortable ride without dragging...as often.

The more comfortable I grew with the bike I then noticed I was dragging both pegs and sometimes in not very sharp turns.

Question is, what do I need to do with my pegs?

I have the same ones and mounted them in the same place you did.  Very comfortable.  Except that my lower legs were too close to the heads and got hot.  Also very close to dragging in curves.  I moved them up to the middle of the curve on the horizontal bars with 1 1/8 clamps.  Pretty comfy and higher so no burning legs.  Still playing with them but this is close.  Everyone fits different though.  Good luck.

I think you're doomed as long as you have something hanging below this line:

A part of my forward controls hangs below. My buddy Frank Smoak has forward controls, and almost
crashed good when he dragged the part you see there...

Other riders drag the "knuckle" that holds pegs like mine on, I think I've mostly fixed that by
moving the knuckle "around the corner" on the lower engine guard:

Your pegs appear to clamp on differently than mine, but here's a picture that shows how mine
are up (to keep from dragging) and "swooped back"  - very comfortable for me... try some stuff,
you'll find a safe/comfortable way to clamp yours on...

Hope you get to come home soon...

Where did you get the clamps?

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Mine are similar to where yours are bet maybe back a little. If/when I drag them they fold right back up. If I'm scraping my feet are on the oem pegs anyway. I can put my heal on the oem pegs and toes on the hiway pegs and it acts as a floorboard, if you will. Never felt in danger having them out and low. Even with the tight 10 mph turns of the black Hills.

Took off my Kuryaken pegs when a tipover broke one of them. Never liked the gynecological position anyway. Replaced with Mick-o-Pegs I picked up on Ebay. Love 'em. No problem in turns since I don't use them in turns and since they're spring loaded, they're up and out of the way.

I found the clamps on Ebay.  They are available at HDL and most suppliers.  I see several people with the pegs mounted on the lower bar.  How do you guys keep your legs off the heads?

Fold highway peg up when you are getting into curves.  They are called highway pegs for a reason

Mine don't fold up out of the way, they bounce out of the way as they hit the road.

Never heard of these Mick O Pegs till this thread.  Anyone else have these and are they worth the price?  Like to see some more pics of them mounted.  I have Kuryakyns mounted on my crash bars.  They work good buy my feet are up pretty high. Thanks.

A lot of people think they are great. I have a question to add to yours... I know you're
supposed to move to the other pegs (and the Mick O Pegs spring up) when you're in
turns, but what happens when you accidentally drag one? Is is just a D'OH moment,
or is there some danger in it?

Kuryaken states in their install instructions not to install the pegs below the horizontal as u have them. Very dangerous in the wrong situation when leaned over.

you are flirting with disaster.  At the very least cruise'n for a bruise'n.  In other words, waaaaay too low.
I have the kury pegs that Hubcapsc (?) has (red & white), but they are clamped on where yours are; right behind the curved engine guard.  The foot pegs are up high with the attachment "knuckle" being the low point; bottom of assembly exposed slightly below the bottom of the curved engine guard.  They've been drug through the curves numerous times over the years with a angled flat spot (see hubcapsc's red line of lean angle reference) on the bottom of both Lt and Rt clamp assemblies.  Not enough sticking out there to dig in.  One of these days it will wear right through the clamp and maybe fall off.  I've experimented with different ways of attaching.  The way I have them offers the least amount of contact with the pavement.  Ymmv,

I haven't tried this experiment (and if you don't mind, I won't.) Other than very wide sweepers I never leave my feet on the Mick-o-pegs when I'm making a turn. And of course I never use them in the really twisty stuff since I might have to, you know, use the brake or shift.  I suspect, however, that the pegs would not react very dramatically to being dragged. When mounted they're about 10 degrees above the horizontal so the part that would drag first would be the inside end of the peg. And to do that you'd have to be leaned WAY over.

Keep in mind that the Mick-o-Pegs are mounted relatively low, unlike Kuryaken's that put your feet way out in front (at least mind did.)  I use mine to stretch my legs periodically but not being a big fan of the feet forward cruiser position anyway, I don't use them as a frequent alternative to my regular pegs. I'm just guessing here, but I'd estimate that they move my feet forward about 20-25 degrees from vertical, if that.

Hope that helps.
