Something else to see at Maggie Valley....Elk

North of Maggie Valley off of 276N near the entrance to I-40. Take a small road to the left. BEWARE it turns to a small gravel road that is twisty with blind corners. I have ridden the bike there but it is better done in a 4 wheeled vehicle. You actually go into Tennessee on that road but once you get there it is paved in the park. Last time we were coming out in the truck and we happened up on 2 bears that were crossing the road but couldn't get the camera out soon enough for a picture.
Cataloochee is the name of the park.

Supposedly the most photographed image on the BRP. Mabry's Mill.

Iris takes a lot of good pictures from the back seat of the bike. When we went to Colorado in 2006 she took hundreds of great photos. If you take the BRP toward Gatlinburg when you get on at Soco Gap between Maggie Valley and Cherokee and take the road to the right a few miles later that says Masonic display or something similar you might just see some of these little critters. A mother turkey and her little ones. You can take that same road up past a mile high campground and to a picnic area on top. It's a dead end, no through passage unless you have a 4WD as there is a dirt road down the other side.

Thanks for sharing Terry, I am sure we will get to see some of this great views along the way.
Awesome pic, was it taken with a phone or a camera?

Those were all taken with an old Sony Cybershot 5.0 that we bought years ago. Has a Carl Zeiss lens. Nice camera still for it's age. I usually keep it at 1280X960.
I hope the weather cooperates for everyone. Looks like we may not be there after all during that time period but a couple of weeks later. Have fun. Here's one more of the mill without the car on the road to the left.
