Hi folks!
Just had my New windshield from Clearview Shield , but it was not completely as expected.

I had this, that I believe is the original on my Standard, 2001

Here you see a kinda tag in the original shield

Here is the Shield I got, which has a bit different profile and require dfferent brackets.

So, did the Vak come With different original windshields?

I do see some Valk's With a windshield like my New.

Any idea where I can get New brackets that will fit the New Shield?

I'd talk to the place that sold you the shield for brackets.

Your first picture doesn't look like Honda OEM. Can't tell for sure, need a side shot, but what I can see from the front tells me it's not OEM but an aftermarket.

The Standards did not come with windshields.  Only the Tourer and IS has them.  So...your shield can't be stock.  I am not even sure if Honda had a windshield for the standards aftermarket...the dealers would just sell you one of the readily available shields from Memphis Shades or National Cycle.  This could be why the shield you just got from Clearview isn't matching up.

From the pictures you provided...logo is national cycle.  The shield you got from Clearview appears to be their rendition of a stock tourer shield.  The curves look right but the cross piece under the headlight is missing.

Hope this helps...

Side view old shield

If I could find  Shield like this, I could Return the New one that doesn't fit well.

Joe gave a good description of my 98 Tourer shield that I replaced with a new Clearview.
The Clearview fit with no problems my stock brackets bolted up.

The "original" windshield you show is not OEM.  The Clearview is an OEM replacement, you just need to find the OEM mounting hardware.  I love the OEM (and Clearview) seup, the curvature really puts you in a pocket.

The Standards did not come with windshields.
The Standard Hondaline windshield was a dealer option and was similar to the Tourer model except for some placarding.

That is a National Cycle shield and mounts. I had one just like it. As someone else said, you'll need the OEM mounts, if the new Clearview is an OEM replacement. I ended up buying a used Tourer windshield, mounts and all.

You have 2 choices. Resell the Clearview at a loss due to shipping or wait for an OEM windshield with bad plastic to come up for sale.

If you want to use your  Clearview, I have all of oem brackets, frames, gasket and hardware.  I'll  take PayPal only.  Pm me for price   (won't  be cheap) and pics.

Meanwhile, somebody  let him know how much all of that stuff costs to piece together.

Wont be cheap because those parts aren't cheap but Bruce is fair, and having the OEM set up is well worth it.  Id jump on it if I was you!  Sell the other shield to make up some of the cost and you will be far better off

Next episode  Smiley

Well, I think also for making a history for future seach on the subject  Wink

Clearview Windshields provide excellent service and accepts return of the purchased windshield  Smiley  Taking shipping expences into the calculations, it is no economically scoop, but anyway ...

I found that  the National Cycle windshield that came as an option on Valkyrie ,  Standard, was  the part no 2250 , WHICH is out of production at National Cycle, according to their  Support  center.

However, I was lucky to find one at a dealer, which I have ordred.

The  reason for it all is,,,,the  National Cycle shield is better looking , as I see it Smiley

Anyway, when the new shield is at my hand,  and I can confirm , or not , that my assumptions are right , I'll chime in again.

Now, please,  have a nice Friday evening Wink    ( My Norwegian time )

The national cycle shield was not an option (from Honda although some dealers may have put them on) on the standard it was Just an aftermarket shield that national cycle made to fit the Valkyrie. I ordered mine through Dennis Kirk in '98.
I agree the NC shield looks better than the OEM Honda shield.

I prefer the Hondaline shield that wraps completely around the headlight.

I have a 1998 standard that I installed a Hondaline OEM windshield on.  Yours is not a Honda windshield.  Clearview makes a windshield for the Valk (I have one) but it requires the brackets from the OEM shield.
