Anyone do this and what did you use.  Thanks in advance.  Also looking into led light for headlight.  I know there were some threads on this.

I used these - 45HP-LED 16mm Wedge Base 7443 Tower bulb
and 74 LED Bulb - 3 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base. From superbrightleds.com
These seem brighter than the original bulbs.

About six years ago I did the exact same thing that Jess did, but I used a slightly different technique to secure the lights. I used a fly cutter to cut circles from aluminum sheet that were exactly the diameter to fit in the rear of the lenses, stuck the LED to the aluminum circle, and then hot glued the aluminum circle to the rear of the lenses.  As I remember it, removing the lenses from their bed in the light fixture was the hardest part of the whole process.  The wiring of the run/brake lights was not a big problem, but you do have to bring in another wire for the brake part of these lights which is easily found under the right side cover. I did not use the original connectors since they were only a two wire connection.  I connected all the wiring with solder and shrink tubing and it has not had a problem yet.  Any way you go about this procedure will require more time and money than you might think, but the results are worth the effort to me.  My wife was really glad when I finished this project and finally cleared off her kitchen table...Jim Smiley

Jim I did not do this; I just supplied instructions created by others.

All I did on my bike was add the Std. taillight in the Interstate fender knockout under the trunk.  It shows up really well since it is nearly always in the shade of the trunk.  If I wasn't so lazy, I'd simply change out all the existing IS trunk OE bulbs, since they are 16yo.

Past experience shows I cannot be trusted with auto electric much beyond changing bulbs and fuses.

I ride around with a buddy on a CVO Hog with big leds in back, and half the time I cannot see any taillights at all in direct sunlight.  When following him into the shade, I think he is applying his brakes, but it is just the leds becoming visible again.

Hey Rob, by the looks of the bulb you used red LEDs.  Was that red through the red lens on the truck too much?

As for the other bulb, the "74" bulb types are the same as the "24" types?  While digging around for that trunk accessory light, I found that it was a type "24" bulb....

Thanks,
