Can I replace me current amber running lights with amber fog lights?  Is this a stupid idea or can it be some without frying my Valk's electical stuff?

You gonna use the fog lights for turns?
Are you talking about bulb only or somehow rigging the fogs into the turn stalks?
Need more detail of your intentions to help.

Halogen bulbs utilized in the stock turn housings will melt them.

Rigging something into the stalks wouldn't look very clean.

The existing flasher relay could probably handle an extra 80 watts. Continuous, I don't know.

I suggest adding light instead of replacing light in the manner your thinking.
There are many ways to add Always Use a switched relay. See Shop Talk for relay info.

I did away with my OE turns because the hit the radiator pods I added
and added 20w halogen amber turns (non running) & 50 watt daytime marker spots to the forks.
My 50 watt nighttime landing spots are up near the fairing.

With fork mount watch out for fender travel you must have full compression clearance.

I got a sneaking suspicion he is referring to the lights in a light bar,

Go to J P Cycles & check out their light section.

Do a Google to get the link, I;m too lazy this morning to find it for ya,

Well, damn it, I is honest on why the link is missing.

I thought at first he meant driving lights being replaced with amber fogs.... but he did state "amber running lights"... and those are also the turn signal lights.  They stay on all the time and blink when you activate the turn signal.  And I don't think he meant to replace the bulb... but the whole light.    Soooooo, that would be one bright azz amber turn signal if you did that.  But something in my gut tells me that won't be legal for some reason.....     But HEY, try it..... you could very well be a trend setter.
